Salary: $138000 - 173000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. We are looking for 3+ years of experience developing software for Linux-based embedded or robotics platforms. We need strong proficiency in C++ and Python for systems-oriented development. We expect experience with Linux internals, including system services, networking, kernel modules, device drivers, or hardware interfaces. Familiarity with ROS, ROS2, DDS, or similar robotics middleware is required. We require experience integrating multiple subsystems in distributed or real-time environments. We need a solid understanding of networking protocols, IPC, and system-level debugging tools. You must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, depending on program needs. You must be a U.S. citizen for export-controlled technology. You must be able to commute to our Huntsville office five days per week. Responsibilities: We develop and maintain Linux-based system software for onboard UAS compute modules, including Jetson, x86, and ARM SBC platforms. We integrate and manage onboard components such as flight control, perception, communications, payloads, and mission-planning services. We build and support system-level services, daemons, and middleware, including ROS2, DDS, and custom IPC frameworks. We implement and refine inter-process communication, networking, and data-exchange pipelines across onboard subsystems. We create tools for system monitoring, logging, diagnostics, and performance profiling. We collaborate with embedded, autonomy, and GNC teams to ensure smooth interaction between Linux systems and flight-control hardware. We configure and optimize Linux distributions, kernel modules, device trees, and hardware interfaces. We support the integration of sensors, cameras, radios, and payload devices into the onboard software environment. We participate in flight testing, data analysis, and iterative improvements to reliability and performance. We contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization approaches, and automated deployment workflows.
