About the role
Lead systems engineering efforts for information assurance systems, ensuring compliance with security standards and certifications.
Salary: $120000 - 223000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in an engineering discipline; a masters degree is strongly preferred. We require an active DoD security clearance at the SECRET level or higher. We need at least 12 years of systems engineering experience supporting information assurance systems or similar products. We expect a deep understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle, from concept development through testing, including architecture definition, functional analysis, requirements allocation and traceability, trade studies, system synthesis, and integration. We look for experience planning, developing, and executing verification efforts for security capabilities and system-level functionality. We require hands-on systems integration and test experience with complex embedded or networked platforms. We need experience preparing and reviewing materials for formal design reviews. We value model-based systems engineering experience, with advanced MBSE expertise preferred. We seek a proven background in architecture, design, analysis, integration, and testing of NSA Type-1 certified or NSA-approved systems or equipment. We require familiarity with security verification test planning and execution. We need knowledge of the NSA Type-1 certification process, including engagement with NSA technical evaluators. We expect experience supporting NSA certification and verification activities, including evidence generation, test event support, and closure of certification findings. We look for familiarity with NSA certification artifacts and deliverables across multiple programs. We need strong security architecture skills, including the ability to evaluate and defend complex trade-offs in high-assurance environments. We require working knowledge of Type-1, Suite A, Suite B, and commercial cryptographic algorithms, both symmetric and asymmetric. We expect knowledge of PKI, TLS, and certificate and key management. We need understanding of key management systems such as EKMS and KMI as used with End Cryptographic Units (ECUs). We value experience with secure networking protocols, red/black interface design, and embedded Linux development environments for cryptographic devices. We require excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate across teams, influence decisions, resolve issues, and communicate change effectively. We prefer experience with cybersecurity compliance and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). We prefer cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP. We prefer candidates who can travel up to 10%. We require the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearances, and TS/SCI clearance is preferred. Responsibilities: We apply security and cryptography expertise throughout the systems engineering lifecycle to deliver and certify National Security systems on schedule, within budget, and with minimal residual risk. We support the design, development, and testing of high-assurance security solutions for Defense and Intelligence customers. We develop concepts of operations, break down and combine security requirements, verify security capabilities, support security architecture development and analysis, and assist with design and security test planning and execution. We support NSA certification efforts, secure networking integration, and embedded platform security for Type-1 cryptographic communications systems. We serve as a subject matter expert and systems lead for information assurance, security, and cryptography. We collaborate across teams to influence technical decisions, resolve issues, and communicate changes clearly. We travel as needed, up to 10% of the time. We work to obtain and maintain the security clearances required for this role.
