Systems Engineer, Protection Strategy Analyst

Salary: $92,500 - 171,500 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience in place of a degree. We require an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI polygraph. We require experience supporting mission protection, integrated protection strategy, space protection, or other threat-informed operations in space or national security settings. We require the ability to turn mission guidance, doctrine, policy, and operational direction into executable protection actions, response options, and recommendations aligned with mission objectives and protection priorities. Preferred experience includes work on operations teams in national security space, satellite operations, mission management, operations integration, or policy/planning environments. Preferred experience includes monitoring and evaluating hazards, threats, and impacts to mission systems. Preferred experience includes conjunction assessment, collision avoidance, orbital state data, and tools such as STK, MATLAB, FreeFlyer, or similar. Preferred experience includes supporting launch, early orbit, on-orbit, re-entry, or contingency operations. Preferred experience includes developing procedures, checklists, TTPs, CONOPS, operational plans, policy implementation guidance, training materials, or operational briefings. Preferred experience includes supporting exercises, readiness events, continuity activities, or operational rehearsals. Preferred experience includes scripting, modeling, simulations, and data transfer using Python and PERL. Preferred experience includes Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Responsibilities: We translate mission policy, operational guidance, enterprise directives, and protection frameworks into executable procedures, plans, and response actions. We support integrated mission protection and enterprise operations synchronization for assigned mission systems. We monitor mission systems, operational conditions, hazards, and threat activity to identify risk and mission impacts. We conduct operational analysis for conjunction and collision avoidance, mission assurance, anomaly response, operational risk, and contingency operations. We support spectrum protection, RF interference analysis, and deconfliction activities as needed. We assist with launch, on-orbit, re-entry, and contingency operations, including building and executing procedures, checklists, and timelines. We prepare and maintain operational products such as briefings, status reports, mission assessments, and decision-support materials. We help develop and refine tactics, techniques, procedures, concepts of operations, checklists, and training materials. We assist with mission protection planning, operational plan development, readiness events, and exercise support. We evaluate courses of action, protection concepts, and operational recommendations for alignment with customer guidance, mission objectives, and protection priorities. We integrate threat reporting, operational reporting, and system status information into mission impact assessments and mitigation recommendations.
