Sr. SATCOM Systems Engineer

Salary: $122000 - 177000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree, preferably in electrical engineering or computer engineering, plus at least 6 years of relevant experience. We will also consider candidates with a graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, we require at least 8 years of directly related experience. We need strong presentation and communication abilities, with the confidence to explain complex technical ideas to varied audiences. We look for proven problem-solving capability and the ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment. We value experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams and understanding project roles across functions. We prefer candidates who have designed, built, tested, and optimized complex communications systems, such as SATCOM or line-of-sight systems, for military use. We prefer familiarity with RF lab equipment, including signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters. We prefer experience using systems engineering tools for requirements management, modeling and simulation, configuration control, and technical documentation. We value knowledge of model-based systems engineering methods and tools. We prefer experience supporting customer interactions, technical reviews, and major program milestone events. We prefer experience with Type 1 encryption products and cyber security. We require the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance, and an active Secret clearance is a plus. Responsibilities: We will have you support the full lifecycle of data link systems, from early concept development through product phase-out. We will rely on you to contribute to proposal preparation, requirements analysis, and requirements management. We will expect you to help plan technical tasks and execute them in a collaborative, high-output environment aligned to program goals and milestones. We will have you manage customer, derived, and allocated requirements across system levels, including decomposition, allocation, and traceability. We will expect you to maintain bidirectional linkage between verification test matrices and customer- and system-level derived requirements. We will have you develop and maintain technical specifications, interface control documents, system architecture materials, test plans and procedures, configuration analysis outputs, verification and validation strategies, and test reports. We will expect you to participate in design oversight, design synthesis, integration, and testing within a cross-functional engineering team. We will rely on you to apply systems engineering practices to ensure technical performance, interoperability, quality, and compliance. We will have you manage engineering tasks to meet technical objectives while staying within cost and schedule constraints. We will expect you to provide systems engineering support across hardware, software, and integrated solutions. We will have you conduct research, evaluation, and development activities for highly complex communication systems. We will expect you to support build, test, integration, verification, deployment, and operational lifecycle activities. We will have you travel 10-20% of the time within the continental U.S. to support customer and supplier sites, technical meetings, demonstrations, and verification work.
