Specialty Software Engineer

Salary: $68000 - 79000 per year Requirements: We require 9 years of specialty software engineering experience, or equivalent experience gained through work, consulting, training, military service, or education. We require 9 years of Java development experience. We require 6 years of hands-on Spring Boot experience. We require 3 years of cloud experience, with Azure preferred though other cloud platforms are acceptable. We require database experience, especially with SQL. We consider experience with Kafka, JMS, and Kubernetes a strong advantage. We require the ability to complete and pass a HackerRank or Glider assessment. We are looking for strong analytical thinking and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, agile environment. Responsibilities: We consult on complex initiatives with broad business impact and large-scale planning within specialty software engineering. We evaluate and resolve multifaceted, longer-term challenges that require deep analysis of multiple factors. We partner closely with client personnel to align on priorities and deliver results. We contribute as a hands-on team member on modernization efforts. We support backend development for the migration of mainframe systems to the cloud. We work with SQL databases to handle and process large-scale data workloads. We help drive the consolidation of 27 applications into 4 as part of a multi-year modernization program. We may participate in future weekend support rotations. This is a contract opportunity based in Columbus, Ohio, working as a W2 consultant on a multi-year modernization initiative for Specialty Software Engineering. The role offers a pay range of $60 to $70 per hour, with compensation determined by experience, skills, education, credentials, location, and role complexity.
