Software Engineer, Product Backend (8+ YOE)
Halcyon Labs · San Francisco, CA; New York, NY · Posted 23d ago
About the role
Develop and implement backend features for Halcyon Labs's no-code app platform.
Halcyon Labs is the no-code app platform that empowers people closest to the work to accelerate their most critical business processes. More than 500,000 organizations, including 80% of the Fortune 100, rely on Halcyon Labs to transform how work gets done. Halcyon Labs’s mission is to bring the power of computing and software development to everyone. We are developing a powerful and extensible platform that our customers can leverage to solve a variety of different problems and workflows. We’ve seen our most sophisticated customers use the product to run global processes across thousands of employees, coordinate precision manufacturing pipelines, and consolidate previously siloed mission-critical data into a single source of truth. The complexity of these use cases requires us to be extremely thoughtful about how we design and implement new functionality in the product and make sure it’s both easy to use and comprehend for our customers and maintainable for us. As a Full-Stack, Backend engineer at Halcyon Labs, you will have the opportunity to work with customers to deeply understand their needs and workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across product management, design, research and data science to create innovative new features that enable our customers to do their best work. You will be responsible for owning and executing the end-to-end implementation of these new features that will contribute to making our toolkit even more powerful and successful. We currently have openings on: The Admin & Governance Team (Full-Stack/BE) ensures Halcyon Labs is secure, compliant, and enterprise-ready. It owns key admin capabilities like the Admin Panel, SSO, and audit systems, as well as foundational features like User Groups. This team's mission is to accelerate organizational value for the largest customers with enterprise-first governance and controls. The Omni Capability & Quality Team (Full-Stack/BE) brings the power of AI directly to Halcyon Labs end users—helping them search, navigate, and operate their bases with ease. While other teams focus on embedding AI throughout the platform and building tools for creators, our mission is simple: make AI immediately helpful with little to no setup. From the moment someone opens a base, installs a solution, or uses a template, AI should be there—ready to assist. Our pod also builds much of Halcyon Labs's AI platform that helps other engineering teams produce quality AI products. The Platform Interoperability Team (Full-Stack/BE) builds the systems that allow agents, integrations, and connected workflows to interact with Halcyon Labs as a platform. As AI agents become a primary interface for how work gets done, we're ensuring Halcyon Labs is a first-class participant in that ecosystem. This team's mission is to make Halcyon Labs the most capable and well-connected platform in the agentic ecosystem. We're building the infrastructure that lets humans and agents alike treat Halcyon Labs as a source of truth they can reliably act on, whether through direct integrations, AI-powered workflows, or large-scale data operations. Please note: while we employ a hybrid working model at Halcyon Labs (flexible in working from the office or elsewhere), we are only hiring in the following locations at this time: Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and are open to coming into our office (Embarcadero) at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration Based in New York City and are open to coming into our office (Soho) at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration What you'll do Design and build systems that dramatically increase the scalability and performance of all applications built on Halcyon Labs, to earn the trust of our customers through predictable, reliable, and thoughtful interactions. Work at the deep backend of the Halcyon Labs software stack within the Enterprise Product portion of the org, just above the Infrastructure org. Partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to understand the needs of potential users and build a product that unlocks their potential. Work alongside and learn from a talented group of engineers with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. Who you are You have 8+ years of industry experience with modern systems development, ideally database internals development. You are interested in programming in TypeScript and Rust. You are excited by a product-oriented backend role, i.e. not pure Infrastructure. You have a good understanding of modern web technologies and large-scale web application architecture. You have a background in computer science or a related field. You believe the best product is the one that helps users accomplish their goals while growing the business. You take a thoughtful approach to decision making; knowing when to move fast and when to do things right. You have strong convictions, weakly held and assume validation and iteration are a given to produce the best results. You show strong ownership instincts and sweat the details. You are currently based and/or will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City . Halcyon Labs is an equal opportunity employer.
