About The Team We're looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Financial Products Authorisation Optimisation team in Amsterdam. This team works on maximizing issuing authorization rates by approving legitimate transactions while minimizing fraud, as well as providing authentication services for the whole Financial Products solution. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, learn from experienced professionals, and grow your skills in a supportive, cross-functional setting. As a Software Engineer I on this team, you'll contribute to building and maintaining the real-time risk engine that evaluates issuing and banking transactions, our ACS (Access Control Server), and Strong Customer Authentication services. Your work will directly impact how our customers pay with their Meridian Softworks-issued cards and authenticate for their transactions. What You'll Do As a Software Engineer I on the team, you will: Develop and implement new features for the services owned by the team. Work closely with our Issuing and Banking teams. Learn and influence our approach to fraud prevention and authorisation rate maximization. Collaborate with experienced engineers to understand requirements, design solutions, and resolve technical challenges. Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure software. Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment. Help troubleshoot and debug issues in our production systems. Apply best practices in software development, including testing, deployment, and monitoring. Receive targeted mentorship and guidance from senior engineers, accelerating your learning and professional development. Who You Are Experience: You have 2+ years of professional software engineering experience (outside of internships/university projects) where you have already put software principles into practice. Tech Stack: You are proficient in Java and excited to apply and expand your skills in a large-scale professional setting. Core Knowledge: You have a solid foundational understanding of databases, distributed systems, and scalability concepts. Mindset: You're a proactive problem-solver with a curious mind and a willingness to ask questions. Collaboration: You're a strong team player who enjoys collaborating and learning from others. Engineering Quality: You have a keen interest in software development, clean code, and design patterns.
