Software Development Manager

Salary: $184,200 - 184,200 per year Requirements: 3+ years of engineering team management experience. 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams. 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling. Experience partnering with product or program management teams. Knowledge of engineering practices across the software, hardware, and network development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations. Experience gathering requirements and communicating software features, technical designs, and product strategy to users, technical teams, and senior leaders. Experience delivering products to plan in fast-paced, multidisciplinary, distributed, and often ambiguous environments. Experience in space vehicle or satellite operations, space communications, or a related industry is preferred. Strong software engineering knowledge, communication, organization, and attention to detail; ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet requirements and deadlines. Responsibilities: Own the teams roadmap and drive execution of its strategic vision, including gathering customer requirements, prioritizing projects, ensuring software quality, and delivering systems. Mentor and develop engineers on the team. Lead a team building and delivering distributed software systems and operational tooling applications for the Leo mission. Collaborate with ground and space systems engineering teams to understand system functionality and deliver integrated solutions for mission preparation and execution. Build performant applications and systems, promote operational excellence, identify improvement opportunities, and increase fleet productivity. Build and maintain tooling that supports launch and on-orbit demonstrations, operational rehearsals, constellation automation, and other critical mission functions. Own the tooling systems architecture and supporting backend systems as well as its primarily frontend applications. Build, lead, and manage a diverse engineering team; provide technical guidance for broadly scoped or loosely defined projects and ensure test and design objectives are met. Define team growth expectations and organizational strategy, and coordinate internal and external resources to support team and project success. Communicate across teams to identify product risks and determine how to address them in support of mission success. Balance multiple priorities while optimizing systems and schedules, applying critical thinking in complex, ambiguous situations and under tight timelines. As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a talented team delivering operational tooling across Leo, working with teams responsible for both ground and space systems. The role is based in Redmond, Washington, and the listed annual base salary range is $184,200. Our compensation package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units.
