Senior Software Engineer - Workflows
Cobalt Streamworks · United States · Posted 14d ago
About the role
Build software to tackle privacy challenges, focusing on consent management and user preferences.
Role Overview This is a remote, Exempt, Full Time position based in the United States. The successful candidate must have valid work authorization, as visa sponsorship is not available. This role reports directly to our Engineering Manager. Cobalt Streamworks is seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Software Engineer to build software that helps companies tackle tough privacy challenges. In addition to working on the core Cobalt Streamworks application, you will contribute to products and initiatives such as: Consent: Collect & enforce user consent, and provide our customers with useful tools to consume that consent data. One of these tools functions similarly as a firewall running on your browser to selectively block or allow data to be sent out to backend servers. Other tools provide APIs & UIs to access consent data to ensure user consent is respected before being used by internal systems. Preference Management: A set of tools to collect user preferences on the frontend and then propagate this data to customer backend systems and our consent enforcement layer. Workflows: The core execution engine and the web-based configuration and monitoring surface for our workflows processes. Our workflows engine enables our customers to service customer data requests (Delete My Data, Do not Sell, etc.), enforce data minimization/data retention policies, and propagate user preferences to downstream systems. What you'll do Collaborate with product managers and designers to build business-critical features. You will think critically about the implications of what you’re building, and how it relates to the overarching privacy goals of our customers. Ship production-ready code that’s easy to iterate on. You know what tests to write, what to log, what metrics to capture, and what alerts to set up. Work across the stack to deliver features : Typescript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS. If you work on the Consent & Preferences product lines, you’ll also get to work with native browser APIs and mobile SDKs. Participate in roadmap discussions and technical design reviews. Weigh in on trade-offs between performance, cost, reliability, and scale for services that are called millions of times per second. Proactively fix production and development issues. Use metrics and observability tools to investigate problems and find root causes. Contribute to a culture of reflection and continuous improvement to better understand why development issues come up and how we can do better in the future. Who you are You have 4-6 years of experience in software engineering, with an emphasis on backend or full-stack development. DevOps experience is a big plus! You take charge of your own professional and technical learning. You know when to ask for help and when to try to solve a problem on your own. You strike a good balance between learning how something works deeply and getting a task done. You actively seek feedback from others to improve your own work. You’re able to identify trade-offs and take them into consideration when making decisions. You care about business impact and prioritize projects accordingly. You’re not just going after the latest cool tech. You understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line. You are effective at async and online methods of communication. Our team is remote, so the ability to clearly and thoughtfully communicate despite the space and time barriers is very important. Compensation Information Our comprehensive compensation packages play a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to bringing data rights to everyone. The compensation pay range represents our reasonable expectation for this role. Individual pay is determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This specific range applies to Tier 1 labor markets like the SF Bay Area and New York City; it may be adjusted based on the labor market in other geographic areas and the individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. USA Pay Range $160,000—$200,000 USD About Cobalt Streamworks Cobalt Streamworks is the autonomous data decision platform powering the world's most trusted brands.
