Senior Software Engineer SME

Salary: $91000 - 147000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors or masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. We require at least 5 years of experience troubleshooting application and cloud-based software. We require experience leading an Agile software team or project. We require strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written. We require project planning experience, including defining tasks, assigning work, and monitoring performance. We require hands-on experience with object-oriented design and implementation. We require familiarity with software modeling and UML tools such as MagicDraw or Cameo. We require experience developing software with modern cloud application development tools and standards. We require experience using Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service technologies such as VMware, OpenShift, or similar platforms. We require the ability to apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to software development. We require U.S. citizenship eligibility for a Department of Defense Secret clearance. We require the ability to obtain and maintain access to classified information as needed. We prefer experience with Agile Scrum practices. We prefer deep Rust development experience. We prefer experience building device drivers and software for integrated communications systems. We prefer experience with commercial telephony software such as Asterisk. We prefer experience implementing Risk Management Framework security controls within application software. Responsibilities: We lead a software development team and guide delivery across the full software development lifecycle. We translate requirements into maintainable, working technical solutions. We plan development efforts, define work packages, assign budgets and tasks, and track team progress. We measure execution using Earned Value Management System techniques and ensure process discipline across the SDLC. We gather requirements and collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and refine scope. We serve as a lead team member on a Scrum team and help shape product and infrastructure strategy. We support engineers as a subject matter expert in application software development. We investigate the root cause of complex technical issues and implement effective fixes. We work independently and with cross-functional teams to develop solutions. We apply engineering and mathematical analysis to software for target hardware. We collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering partners to evaluate interfaces and operational requirements. We participate in requirements analysis, system design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and formal testing. We create software test plans, procedures, and related technical documentation. We use modeling tools and test equipment to gather operating data, run experiments, prototype, and assess results. We take part in peer reviews and identify, track, and resolve defects.
