Senior Software Engineer

Salary: $139000 - 197000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 8+ years of relevant experience in advanced software product development, or a masters degree with 6+ years of comparable experience. We are looking for strong programming expertise in C/C++ and Python. We value scripting experience with Linux/Unix shells, MATLAB, and similar tools. We expect familiarity with IDEs such as Eclipse, GNU-based tools, VS Code, Microsoft Visual Studio, and Arduino. We require experience with version control systems such as SVN and Git. We prefer hands-on use of issue-tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms. We expect proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook. We value experience with Agile methods, including Scrum. We are seeking experience working with virtual machines. We need a solid understanding of industry-standard software design practices, including configuration control, design tradeoffs, analyses, and requirement specifications. We expect a background in software product development with strong engineering aptitude and problem-solving ability. We require demonstrated skill in resolving issues during design, development, and execution of software engineering work. We need excellent written and verbal communication skills. We value the ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment. We also need the ability to work independently to meet technical and program goals. We require the ability to hold or obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance. We require the ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally, depending on program needs. We strongly prefer prior experience supporting U.S. defense programs. We consider experience developing solutions for naval, marine, or robotic applications a plus. We value experience with bare-metal embedded software development. We require U.S. citizenship and eligibility for access to classified information. We require candidates to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Responsibilities: We work with engineering teams to design, implement, unit test, document, and maintain software across multiple programming languages and platforms, including Linux, Windows, and embedded systems. We apply sound software engineering principles and best practices to create practical, innovative solutions to complex problems. We support modeling, simulation, integration, and testing activities as needed. We develop and present technical concepts, tradeoffs, analyses, designs, and performance estimates. We participate throughout the full software lifecycle, including development, prototyping, integration, verification, delivery, and support. We take part in technical reviews and status meetings. We collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders and, when needed, external partners. We follow company standard operating procedures and Quality System requirements.
