Senior Software Development Manager

Salary: $165000 - 201000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 15 years of software engineering experience and 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity; a masters degree is preferred. We require prior experience managing the software development life cycle from planning through maintenance. We require experience implementing DevOps, CI/CD, and DevEx practices. We require a strong technical foundation in software development, including work across multiple programming languages and frameworks. We require hands-on experience with C# or C++, 2D and 3D graphics, and DirectX or OpenGL; familiarity with .NET is desired. We value experience with computational geometry, mapping, and cartography. We require at least 3 years of experience using object-oriented programming languages. We require knowledge of software industry standards and regulations, including data security and privacy requirements. We require experience using the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence. We require experience with AWS, big data, and cloud architecture. We require the ability to think strategically while executing tactically, paired with strong problem-solving skills. We require exceptional leadership ability to coordinate collaboration across engineering teams. We require strong people management skills, including the ability to motivate and mentor team members. Responsibilities: We lead and guide our software development team to deliver high-quality software solutions. We plan, coordinate, and oversee the full software development life cycle, including analysis, design, coding, code review, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. We validate major architectural decisions and provide direction on system design, technology selection, and technical enhancements. We apply strong management practices to our software development processes and methods while ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. We collaborate with product managers, designers, developers, and clients to define project scope, goals, and deliverables. We work with our CTO and COO to help shape product strategy. We ensure our SaaS and desktop applications are high quality, secure, scalable, and built with modern tools, technologies, and best practices. We monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines. We manage staffing, hiring, scheduling, and resource allocation to improve team efficiency and effectiveness. We foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports professional growth and continuous learning. We conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for development and advancement. We stay current on emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on our projects and business objectives.
