Senior Platform Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer based in Canada. We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable internal developer platforms that empower engineering teams to work more efficiently. In this role, you will drive platform engineering initiatives focused on self-service infrastructure, automation, and cloud-native technologies. You will help streamline software delivery by developing robust CI/CD pipelines and implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions. Working with modern containerization and orchestration technologies, you will ensure platforms remain reliable, secure, and scalable. You will also champion observability, operational excellence, and security best practices across the infrastructure lifecycle. Accountabilities
Internal Developer Platforms: Design, develop, and maintain internal developer portals and self-service infrastructure solutions that improve developer productivity and simplify infrastructure provisioning. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources using tools such as Terraform or Crossplane. CI/CD and Automation: Build, optimize, and standardize continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and Argo CD. Containerization and Orchestration: Manage containerized applications and microservices using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient deployments and consistent runtime environments. Observability and Reliability: Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog to enhance system visibility, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service availability. Security and Governance: Integrate security-by-design principles into platform architecture, implement role-based access control (RBAC), and establish automated compliance checks and governance safeguards. Platform Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure performance, scalability, reliability, and automation while supporting engineering teams with dependable platform capabilities. Requirements Demonstrated experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, site reliability engineering (SRE), or a related technical discipline. Strong understanding of internal developer platforms, developer portals, and self-service infrastructure architectures. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform or Crossplane. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, or comparable technologies. Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with observability tools and practices, including logging, metrics, monitoring, and distributed tracing, using platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog. Knowledge of cloud security principles, secure-by-design practices, RBAC, automated compliance controls, and infrastructure governance. Strong automation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex infrastructure issues and develop sustainable solutions. Ability to work collaboratively with software developers and cross-functional technical teams to improve developer experience and platform reliability.
