The Senior Planned Giving Relationship Manager will lead a regional portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, helping build meaningful, long-term philanthropic commitments. This role combines sophisticated gift planning expertise with strategic relationship management and donor-centered engagement. You will guide conversations around bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, and complex or blended gifts. Working closely with development colleagues and professional advisors, you will help donors navigate technical concepts with clarity and confidence. The position offers significant autonomy while contributing to the growth and sophistication of a mission-driven planned giving program. This is a remote opportunity with a strong West Coast focus and approximately 25% travel to support donor relationships and key events. Accountabilities: Proactively manage a regional portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, prioritizing high-potential opportunities and developing strategies that move relationships toward meaningful commitments. Mentor peers and influence gift strategies across the assigned territory while partnering closely with Annual Giving, Major Gifts, and other development colleagues to create coordinated donor engagement plans. Develop and execute tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, including confidently making asks for multi-year commitments, upgrades, and other planned gifts. Lead sophisticated planned giving conversations covering bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, and complex or blended gift structures. Serve as a trusted resource to donors by translating technical gift planning concepts, tax considerations, and philanthropic strategies into clear, accessible, donor-centered conversations. Collaborate with donors' professional advisors, including attorneys, accountants, and financial planners, to facilitate appropriate gift planning discussions and support successful execution. Represent the planned giving program at regional events, donor meetings, and other high-value cultivation opportunities across the assigned territory. Maintain accurate and strategic records of donor activity, pipeline development, relationship progress, and projections within Salesforce. Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team culture while approaching donor relationships and internal partnerships with positivity, flexibility, and a shared commitment to impact. Monitor portfolio performance and fundraising progress, using sound judgment and relationship insights to advance prospects toward long-term philanthropic commitments. Requirements: Bring relevant fundraising experience with demonstrated expertise in planned giving, including successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned gifts. Have experience developing and executing complex or blended gift strategies and a strong working knowledge of charitable gift planning vehicles. Demonstrate knowledge of related tax considerations and current trends in philanthropy and estate planning. Have a proven record of achieving or exceeding fundraising goals and successfully moving prospects through cultivation toward commitment. Possess exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage donors and professional advisors confidently while explaining complex concepts in accessible language. Demonstrate high emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with donors and families thoughtfully, respectfully, and with care. Be highly collaborative and capable of working across development functions to deliver a coordinated, donor-centric approach. Demonstrate strong organization, self-direction, and time management skills, with the ability to manage a dynamic portfolio and shifting priorities effectively. Have familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce and the ability to maintain accurate, strategic donor records. Be willing and able to travel regularly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support donor engagement, regional strategy, and key events. Candidates based in the western region of the United States are strongly preferred because of the importance of regional presence and relationship building. Benefits: Annual salary range of $90,000–$110,000 USD , with individual compensation determined by qualifications, skills, and applicable factors. Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.
