About the team The Devices Hardware Engineering team is responsible for the core physical products that bring the Northwind Robotics experience into millions of homes. We design and develop the industry-leading hardware that powers our ecosystem, including set-top boxes, streaming sticks, remotes, and innovative new devices. As a seasoned team of engineers, we focus on delivering high-performance, cost-effective, and reliable consumer electronics at a global scale. About the role We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join the Devices Hardware Engineering team. Based in Shenzhen, you will be our team’s first EE hire in Asia, serving as a critical bridge between our headquarters and our manufacturing partners. You will develop and lead exciting new products (set-top boxes, streaming players, remotes) through the complete design lifecycle, from initial concept to mass production (MP). The successful candidate will be an energetic, self-starting team player who can manage multiple projects and thrive during rapid development cycles. You will possess the expertise and determination to ensure projects stay on target regarding design, quality, schedule, and cost. What you'll be doing Design Ownership: Own the complete electrical system (BOM/Schematics/PCB) for new products. Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with US-based Software, Mechanical Engineering, and Program Management teams. Component Selection: Identify and qualify components based on performance, reliability, cost, and local availability/lead times. Validation: Plan and lead hardware validation (EVT/DVT/PVT) for your designs. On-site Factory Support: Provide immediate, on-the-ground support for factory builds, assisting with test station setup, failure analysis (FA), and yield improvement. Vendor Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for local JDMs, ODMs, and component suppliers. We’re excited if you have Experience: 7+ years of hardware engineering experience in embedded system design (Senior/Lead level preferred). Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering. Mass Production: A proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer electronics. Manufacturing Expertise: Deep experience working directly on-site with JDMs/ODMs/CMs in Asia. Tools: Proficiency with OrCAD and Altium design suites. Expert knowledge of PCB layout rules for high-speed designs. Technical Breadth: Strong skills in schematic design, high-speed signal integrity (DDR, PCIe), power delivery, RF (WiFi/BT), and ESD/EMI compliance. Lab Skills: Mastery of high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers. Software: Ability to write low-level scripts (Python/C) for hardware validation. Bilingual: Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and verbal). Independent: Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision during Asia business hours. Communicative: A transparent and proactive communicator who provides detailed regular updates to the US team. Flexible: Willing to adjust working hours occasionally for sync meetings with US-based teams. #LI-GW1 What's Northwind Robotics's approach to hybrid working?
