Senior DevOps Consultant

About the Role Cobalt Streamworks is looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Consultant to help evaluate, improve, and modernize the infrastructure behind our global news technology platforms. This is a hands-on consulting role that combines infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, cloud operations, and problem-solving. You will review existing environments, identify bottlenecks and operational risks, and help implement improvements across AWS and hosted server environments. We believe this role is an especially strong fit for professionals coming from hosting providers, managed infrastructure services, cloud operations teams, or data center environments who can bring fresh eyes to our infrastructure and help identify opportunities for improvement. What You Will Do Review and evaluate existing infrastructure Audit the configuration of our servers Security audit Server hardening - reduce vulnerabilities by disabling unnecessary services and applying strict access controls Identify bottlenecks, operational risks, and opportunities for improvement Recommend and help implement infrastructure improvements Improve platform reliability, performance, monitoring, and operational visibility Support infrastructure modernization, migration, and consolidation initiatives Troubleshoot complex production and infrastructure issues Collaborate closely with developers and technical leads Recommend infrastructure standards, operational best practices, and long-term improvements Contribute to infrastructure planning and technical decision-making Environment & Technologies Core Infrastructure: AWS Linux nginx Aurora DB MySQL Redis/ElastiCache Sphinx Search Automation & Deployment: Ansible GitHub Actions Docker Supporting applications are primarily built in Ruby and Python.
