Come be a part of our journey! We are expanding our Support Services team at ClickHouse, which delivers exceptional service to our customers worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Consulting Engineerto join our global team, where you'll provide Consultative Support to our ClickHouse enterprise customers. The role uniquely blends hands-on engineering, development assistance, and high-tier support, performing functions across Consultative Support, Engineering, and Support. You will work directly with a set of strategic customers, providing guidance, case answers, and technical oversight. Consulting Engineers will also be assisting with support cases for customers in our Support L1 to L3 tiers, particularly when not assigned to larger projects. Responsibilities: Project Engineering & Consulting (50%): Serve as a team member on customer projects, focusing on design, architecture, integration, implementation, and documentation. This includes research, benchmarking, performance and functional testing, reference architectures, sizing, migration, integration, development, and tooling. Consultative Support (50%): Provide case-initiated consultative support to strategic users, customers, and prospects, assisting with implementation, onboarding, production launches, and Proof of Concepts (POCs). Provide architectural, technical, and migration assistance, including hands-on tasks. Work as a member of the Support Team, handling L1 to L3 cases and communications when not actively assigned to customer projects. Partner closely with ClickHouse Product Management, Engineering, and Sales to contribute to the product roadmap and account plans. Develop and assist with a wide range of content, including Public and Internal Documentation, Knowledge Base articles, ClickHouse Learning, Reference Architecture, blogs, and benchmark results. Assist with hiring and mentoring new team members as we grow and scale. Be available for scheduling and on-call needs to deliver high-quality 24x7 support in a global, distributed environment, including up to 35% estimated onsite regional travel. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in Professional Services, Support, Technical Accounts Management, Engineering/SRE, and/or Project Management roles. 5+ years of relevant industry experience in implementing, operating, and/or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed database management systems ("DBMS"). Technical breadth and depth in relevant subjects such as DBMS, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems software engineering, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, System or Network Administration, and big data. Experience leading and shipping large scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple experienced engineers. Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g. EC2) Bonus points: Experience with ClickHouse Experience with OSS and open-source technologies, as a user, community member, or contributor Experience with Azure, GCP or AWS Experience with data pipelines such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, RabbitMQ, or others You'll love this role if: You have excellent communication skills and thrive in a customer-facing role, collaborating closely with Support Services, Engineering, and Sales teams. The typical starting salary for this role in the US is $158,000—$199,000 USD The typical starting salary for this role in US Premium Markets is $176,000—$221,000 USD Compensation For roles based in the United States , the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.
