Senior BI Developer

Job Description Working as part of the Customer Experience Program IT team, you will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making across SGS. You will lead the design and delivery of business intelligence solutions that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders and support strategic initiatives across our digital landscape. As a Senior Developer, you will act as a bridge between business and IT, translating complex data into meaningful insights. You will be responsible for designing scalable data models and reporting solutions, ensuring alignment with business priorities, data governance standards, and enterprise architecture. You will collaborate closely with data engineering and integration teams who manage data ingestion and pipelines, ensuring that high-quality, reliable data is available for analytics and reporting. More specifically, you will: Solution Design & Delivery Lead the design and development of dashboards, reports, and KPIs using BI tools (e.g., Power BI) Define and implement scalable data models and semantic layers to support business reporting needs Translate business requirements into analytical solutions that drive decision-making Ensure usability, performance, and scalability of BI solutions Business Engagement & Analytics Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and analytical use cases Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis and trends Support strategic initiatives by delivering high-quality analytics and performance measurement frameworks Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on BI and data usage Data Governance & Quality Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of data used across reporting solutions Apply and promote data governance principles, including standardized definitions and KPIs Validate data and support user acceptance testing for BI deliverables Collaboration with Data & Integration Teams Work closely with Azure and data engineering teams to define data requirements and ensure data availability Consume curated datasets and ensure alignment between data models and business needs Contribute to the definition of data structures and transformations required for reporting (without owning ingestion pipelines) Leadership & Knowledge Sharing Act as a BI subject matter expert within the organization Define and enforce BI standards, guidelines, and best practices across the organization Provide training and documentation to business users and stakeholders Qualifications University degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field Minimum 7 years’ experience in business intelligence or data analytics roles Strong experience with BI tools (Power BI preferred) Proven experience designing data models, semantic layers, and enterprise reporting solutions Strong proficiency in SQL and data analysis techniques Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data lifecycle Experience working with enterprise data environments and large datasets Experience collaborating with data engineering teams on data preparation and availability Understanding of data governance frameworks, KPI definition, and reporting standardization Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) Soft skills Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage business and technical stakeholders Ability to translate complex data into clear business insights Ability to operate in a global, distributed environment Fluent in English (verbal and written) Company Description SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
