Senior Backend Engineer, Analytics

Salary: $129000 - 166000 per year Requirements: We require 5+ years of software engineering experience. We look for experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems that are fault tolerant and highly concurrent. We expect strong software engineering fundamentals, including design, unit testing, version control, code review, and CI/CD practices. We need solid backend development experience in modern languages such as Python or Ruby; we use Python and Elixir. We value familiarity with functional programming principles, especially with Elixir. We require understanding of web API patterns and technologies such as REST, GraphQL, and gRPC. We look for experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; we use Google Cloud Platform. We need experience with distributed and microservice technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, and RabbitMQ. We expect experience with both OLTP and OLAP systems, including schema design and query optimization. We value familiarity with SDLC practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated deployment tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions. We seek strong technical leadership, collaboration, communication, and mentoring abilities. We look for excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues clearly. Responsibilities: We design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that support our measurement, attribution, and reporting capabilities. We develop reliable data pipelines and services that turn raw event streams and metrics into actionable insights. We partner with stakeholders to define and refine an intuitive reporting interface that helps users understand and act on insights. We own critical backend components, including architecture, deployment, and monitoring, to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance. We promote engineering best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and system health. We mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
