As part of the International team, in our missions to expand globally, we are building the core systems to launch Northwind Robotics into new markets. You will join a high-impact, high-ownership engineering team solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. This role is not just about shipping features — it is about building the core infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable every engineering team at Northwind Robotics to deliver internationally-ready products faster and with confidence. The team works closely with other teams, driving key international business objectives while improving the productivity of the entire Northwind Robotics engineering organization. Key areas of focus include internationalisation, distributed systems, infrastructure, tooling, and workflows, all of which are essential for the success of Northwind Robotics's products in international markets. A day in the life (Responsibilities) Define, collaborate and drive i18n approaches and quality standards across the iOS/android community in engineering organisation Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable features across Northwind Robotics’s products Evolve Northwind Robotics’s existing products suite to meet global market needs Collaborate with UX and PM on the definition and design of features Collaborate with the team to plan and estimate work Work closely with Northwind Robotics internal teams and pilot customers to ensure successfully deliver international ready products Build core features into the Point of Sale Mentor and coach other engineers What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) High level of proficiency with Kotlin, Java or another object-oriented language, with a deep understanding of testing, quality & best practices. High level of proficiency working with Android systems The ability to take complex business problems, and create easy-to-use solutions at scale. Working experience of API principles e.g. REST Enjoys building well-engineered, usable and accessible systems Passionate about making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild Ability to embrace an agile mindset focused on delivering usable software Adaptable to work in changing environments Nice to haves Experience with localisation and internationalization frameworks Proficiency in iOS development Experience working in backend Java/Kotlin micro services What we use to make our dish (Our Tech Stack) A core of Java & Kotlin based backend services. React SPAs leveraging Tailwind, GraphQL and Storybook. Android app built in Java & Kotlin running in the restaurant. PostgreSQL and DynamoDB as core persistence. Pulsar, Camel and RabbitMQ for message-based integrations.
