RPG Developer

Salary: $103,000 - 143,000 per year Requirements: Proven experience leading IT initiatives from planning through implementation Strong AS/400 (IBM i) development and maintenance background, including RPGLE Free format, CL, and SQLRPGLE Expertise in SQL for data analysis, reporting, and relational data models; experience writing and running queries on relational databases Ability to assess existing systems and processes, recommend improvements, and implement solutions Experience deploying application software to test and production environments and promoting code according to change management policies Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across teams Proficiency with RPGLE Free, Embedded SQL, SQL, CL, service programs, stored procedures, Rational Developer for i, MQ, JSON, XML, REST/SOAP web service integration, and APIs Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including creating mapping specifications in Excel and writing documentation in Word; experience collaborating through Skype or Teams Ability to gather and translate business requirements into functional designs, understand core business processes and their integration with IT systems, and coordinate tasks across IT and business teams Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and routine administrative duties Adaptable, receptive to coaching, and willing to give and receive constructive feedback Bonus: Familiarity with Java, .NET, or PHP; WMS, especially Manhattan; AS/400 operations such as job control, printer management, backup, and monitoring; or microservices architecture and secure, efficient service communication Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain IBM i / Power System applications using native tools such as RPG/400, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, Free RPG, CL, and DSPF Support projects throughout the lifecycle, from requirements gathering and development through QA and production deployment Load, test, and promote application releases and fixes in line with change control protocols Work with business users to gather functional requirements and turn them into technical design specifications Respond to production support issues and resolve critical incidents and user-reported problems Create and maintain technical documentation according to department standards Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and uphold coding and documentation standards Partner with engineering, UX, and product teams to deliver high-quality software Provide architectural input and assess the performance implications of development approaches, such as embedded SQL Lead or support IT project management and coordinate with external consultants or partner teams as needed Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of company standards and methodologies Technologies: Embedded Excel IBM Support JSON Java PHP REST SOAP SQL Web XML microservices UX UI Design ASP.NET API C++ More: We are seeking an RPG Developer for a role based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
