Senior Backend Engineer

Salary: $65,000 - 105,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a candidate with a bachelors degree. We need at least 5 years of Java development and backend engineering experience, ideally 7–10+ years. Experience in ecommerce is a strong advantage. You must be highly proficient in Java and have worked with at least one additional backend and one frontend language. Experience modernizing legacy codebases is required. Automated testing experience is expected. Strong knowledge of microservices architecture is important. Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS is required. Excellent communication skills are essential, as collaboration is a key part of the role. Responsibilities: We act as the internal backend architecture expert and help define engineering standards. We improve software quality by refactoring and reshaping legacy areas. We take ownership of reliability and performance by identifying bugs and issues and improving the user experience. We mentor junior engineers by leading through example and sharing best practices. We collaborate with product, design, and other teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and successfully delivered. We work closely with team members on code reviews and shared problem-solving across multiple time zones. We communicate clearly and concisely in a fully remote environment.
