Salary: $146000 - 156000 per year Requirements: We need 10+ years of Java backend development experience. We require 5+ years of experience in Technical Lead or Architect positions. We expect strong hands-on expertise with Java 17+ or Java 21. We need proven experience with Spring Boot 3.x. We require solid knowledge of REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications. We require experience modernizing legacy Java EE and EJB applications. We need deep database experience with Oracle and/or DB2. We need experience in healthcare, Medicaid MMIS, or other regulated environments. We require an understanding of HIPAA and HITECH compliance requirements. We prefer experience with HL7 FHIR R4 and HAPI FHIR. We value experience with X12 EDI transactions. We prefer background in CMS modernization or Medicaid platform initiatives. We value API gateway experience with Azure APIM, Kong, or Apigee. We prefer exposure to observability and distributed tracing. We value experience with Azure Service Bus and Event Hubs. We prefer experience supporting multi-state healthcare platform implementations. We value experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar solutions to improve productivity, modernization, documentation, testing, and delivery efficiency. Responsibilities: We define application and integration architecture for our provider platform modernization effort. We lead the transformation of legacy Java EE and EJB systems into Spring Boot microservices. We design scalable REST APIs and event-driven integration patterns. We guide cloud-native deployment architecture on Azure. We support FHIR-based interoperability and healthcare integration requirements. We establish engineering standards for resiliency, observability, security, and performance. We conduct architecture and design reviews across development teams. We mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across modernization workstreams. We collaborate with Product, Business Analysis, DevOps, and Security teams to deliver solutions. We help support critical Medicaid provider operations while modernizing our platform.
