Quality Engineer (Python/Playwright) w/ Dev Background

About the role Ascendion is seeking a Quality Engineer with Python or Playwright expertise and a development background to join our dynamic Testing & Quality Assurance team. This is a full-time position based in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. In this role, you will bridge the gap between quality assurance and software development, bringing your technical acumen to design, develop and execute automated test frameworks that ensure the highest standards of software quality. Your development background will be instrumental in collaborating with engineering teams and creating robust, maintainable automation solutions that drive product excellence. Key responsibilities Design and develop automated test scripts using Python and Playwright to ensure comprehensive test coverage across web applications and platforms Collaborate with software developers and product teams to understand requirements, identify test scenarios and implement effective quality assurance strategies Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks that integrate seamlessly with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines Execute functional, regression, performance and end-to-end testing to identify defects and ensure software reliability Analyse test results, document findings and work with development teams to resolve issues and improve product quality Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and best practices Create comprehensive test documentation, including test cases, test plans and defect reports Mentor junior quality assurance team members and share knowledge about automation frameworks and testing strategies Stay current with emerging testing tools, frameworks and industry standards within the quality assurance landscape What we're looking for · Strong experience in testing mobile applications on iOS and Android. · Expertise in API testing and automation using tools like Postman, Robot Framework, or Python Behave. · Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, contract testing, and schema validation. · Hands-on experience with scripting in Python. · Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and bug tracking tools like Jira. · Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues. · Effective communication and teamwork in an Agile environment (we use Scrum). · Passion for learning and applying best practices in mobile and API testing.
