About the role

Design and implement systems for content development and third-party partners in a collaborative studio environment.

As a member of our studio's Programming Team, you will work closely with Programmers, Designers, Artists and Producers on the project. You will design and implement extensions to existing systems and pivotal new systems to address the needs of our team of content developers and external third-party partners. Upholding and promoting this culture is part of the job. WHAT YOU’LL DO Design, author, and maintain robust and highly optimized systems that meet all design, technical and schedule requirements. Work closely with QA and technical leadership to ensure the stability and accuracy of systems by identifying, communicating and resolving defects. Author, review and provide feedback on technical and end-user documentation of systems. Collaborate with Technical Leadership and other Programmers to help establish overall technical design and architecture. Work closely with production staff in building and maintaining realistic schedules and identifying dependencies; coordinate with QA and Leads to ensure successful roll-out of new features to the Team and establish testing and maintenance of systems. Work with minimal guidance on high-impact tasks or independently on low-risk tasks. Provide guidance and informal supervision to more junior staff. Provide meaningful feedback and enforcement of coding standards through peer reviews. Help team members set up tools and troubleshoot minor tools issues and workflow blockers. WHAT YOU’LL BRING 7+ years professional software development. 3+ years professional Unreal Engine experience. 3+ years developing in a team environment. 2+ years professional C++ experience with an advanced understanding of it. Extensive experience working in multiple code bases. Ability to openly discuss and review technical proposals, requirements, designs, algorithms, source code, and reference documents with programmers, content creators and managers. Ability to provide meaningful time estimates for large tasks. Proficiency in writing optimized code as well as identifying areas that could use optimization Proficiency in writing thread-safe code. Can successfully navigate through ambiguity and act accordingly. Ability to pivot between different domains of responsibility. Extensive experience using debugging tools to fix bugs in unfamiliar code. Interest or experience in using AI-assisted software development workflows, to support activities such as code exploration, implementation, debugging, documentation, and code review. Strict adherence to project coding standards. Strong cross-discipline collaboration skills. Willingness to receive and act upon feedback. Great communication, written and verbal. Experience or comfort with client-facing communication and the ability to represent the studio professionally when interacting with external partners. Expert knowledge in 3D math. NICE TO HAVE AAA experience. While Unreal Engine is our primary focus, experience with Unity or proprietary custom engines is a strong plus. Experience developing on console. Shipped multiple titles. Has worked on a title from beginning to end.
