About the role
Role Overview We are expanding its AI-first Consulting Practice in Singapore and is hiring a Director to lead our Modernisation Practice. You will work directly alongside the Managing Director to shape consulting offerings, win lighthouse clients, and build the practice's core IP and the frameworks, playbooks, reference architectures, and proposal assets that define how FPT delivers enterprise transformation across APAC. This is a hands-on builder role. You will run discovery workshops, own proposal development and commercial estimation, direct FPT's offshore delivery teams, and upskill internal Solution Architects and Business Analysts. You know legacy estates from the inside mainframes, COBOL, RPG, IBM mid-range, host-centric batch and transaction systems and you know how to get organisations out of them. Responsibilities 1. Consulting IP & Practice Development (40%) Build and refine the practice's consulting assets: assessment frameworks, modernisation playbooks, ROI models, reference architectures, proposal templates, SOW structures, and commercial estimation guides Create reusable technical IP: modernisation pattern libraries, estimation models, and engagement structures that codify FPT's approach Write PRDs for FleziPT modernisation accelerators based on real client needs; review offshore engineering outputs Design and deliver a consulting skills curriculum to upskill FPT's SAs and BAs with business case development, workshop facilitation, structured problem solving, and executive communication 2. Client Engagement & Proposals (35%) Design and facilitate executive discovery workshops with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and Heads of Operations translating pain points into structured problem statements and fundable program designs Lead end-to-end proposal development for modernisation engagements, from scoping through commercial sign-off Own commercial estimation: effort sizing, team composition, phasing, and pricing rationale Actively identify expand opportunities within existing accounts and support the MD in shaping new pursuits 3. Delivery Oversight (15%) Act as consulting quality gate and review solution blueprints, architecture documents, and delivery plans before client presentation Serve as primary interface between consulting practice and offshore delivery: translate consulting scope into executable delivery briefs Work with the AI CoE Director to embed AI-readiness into modernisation designs: observability, telemetry, data foundations, automation hooks Flag delivery risks early and drive escalation resolution with the MD 4. Business Development Support (10%) Attend and contribute to C-suite client meetings alongside the MD Co-author thought leadership on legacy modernisation and cloud-native transformation Requirements 12+ years in engineering, architecture, or consulting with genuine hands-on development experience earlier in career Proven experience in large-scale system modernisation / legacy transformation from initial assessment through delivery oversight to production cutover Real familiarity with legacy estates: IBM mainframe, COBOL, RPG / AS400 / iSeries, legacy middleware, batch-heavy environments, host integration patterns Strong knowledge of modern target architectures: cloud-native (AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices, API and integration design, event-driven systems Domain experience in banking or healthcare (regulated industries) and you understand application landscapes, integration constraints, and regulatory realities T-shaped profile: frame modernisation in terms of business risk and outcomes, not just technical debt — you have led a core system migration from legacy to cloud-native Both advisory and implementation experience: shaped modernisation strategy AND overseen delivery Hands-on experience creating consulting IP and you have personally written frameworks, playbooks, or assessment tools used by others Experience directing offshore teams across time zones Strong facilitation skills: run a senior client workshop and manage room dynamics with CIO/CTO/COO-level participants Experience with core banking platforms (Temenos, Finacle, Flexcube, Mambu) or healthcare application estates (EHR/EMR, HL7/FHIR) Knowledge of regulatory frameworks: MAS TRM, APRA CPS 234, healthcare compliance (PDPA, HIPAA/HITRUST) Exposure to AI-driven modernisation tooling: automated code analysis, dependency mapping, migration factory approaches Experience co-selling with hyperscalers in a financial services context Experience across multiple APAC markets MBA or postgraduate qualification Originally posted on Himalayas
