About the role

Do you thrive on making complex systems transparent and reliable? As an Observability Engineer at Axis, you'll play a key role in ensuring that our teams can see, understand, and trust the behavior of the platforms that power a smarter, safer world. Join us at our HQ in Lund!
Who is your future team?
This is a recently established role within our Information Systems department, deeply embedded within IT Infrastructure. You will work as a technical bridge, collaborating closely with infrastructure leads and managers to define and build the observability capabilities required to support our global operations.
Your primary partnership will be with the IT Security Group (IT-SG). Together, you will ensure that our infrastructure serves as a secure and reliable foundation for Axis' commercial offering. While IT-SG manages the link between IT and the business - including service-level commitments, compliance, and security oversight - your focus will be on the technical telemetry that makes this possible. You'll be surrounded by experienced engineers who are passionate about operational insight and system reliability, and who are looking for someone who shares their curiosity and drive to continuously improve.

What you'll do here as Observability Engineer
In this role, you'll help operate and evolve our observability platform across logs, metrics, monitoring, and system insights. Your work directly impacts the visibility and reliability of the infrastructure that supports Axis worldwide - making this a role where your operational contribution truly matters.
Support the day-to-day operation of observability platforms (primarily Elastic Stack and Zabbix) to ensure stability, performance, and data quality
Participate in incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis by correlating logs, metrics, alerts, and system behavior
Maintain and improve log ingestion and processing pipelines, including parsing, transformation, and Elastic Common Schema (ECS) alignment
Operate and tune monitoring solutions, including host, item, and template management in Zabbix as well as alerting and escalation rules
Improve visibility across the organization through better dashboards, signal coverage, and alert quality
Contribute to operational documentation, runbooks, and observability best practices
Support the evaluation and adoption of complementary tools such as OpenTelemetry, Cribl, Vector, and Grafana as the platform evolves toward a more unified observability approach
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is analytical and structured, with a genuine curiosity for understanding how systems behave - and what happens when they don't. You enjoy troubleshooting, connecting dots across different data sources, and finding patterns others might miss. You're collaborative by nature, comfortable working alongside senior engineers, and eager to both learn and share knowledge. You take initiative to improve things proactively and you communicate clearly, whether you're writing a runbook or explaining a complex issue to a colleague.

We'd love to hear that you have:
Experience working with observability systems, including logs, metrics, and monitoring
Strong Linux system administration skills, including troubleshooting and performance analysis
Practical experience with Zabbix (installation, configuration, or operational maintenance, templates, and alerts)
Familiarity with Docker-based environments
Working knowledge of scripting and automation using Python
Comfortable working with JSON and YAML
Bonus points if you also bring:
Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch or Elastic Cloud Enterprise (ECE)
Experience creating and maintaining Kibana dashboards
Familiarity with Grafana
Exposure to OpenTelemetry concepts or pipelines
Basic JavaScript knowledge for customization or integrations
An interest in developing deeper expertise in observability or platform engineering
What Axis has to offer

Here, you'll contribute to meaningful projects that shape the future of security and surveillance - developing solutions used worldwide.
