Network Engineer

Salary: $75000 - 86000 per year Requirements: We need at least 2 years of hands-on experience supporting server applications in a Microsoft networked environment, along with strong Active Directory administration skills. We expect familiarity with Windows Server, SQL Server, high-performance cluster environments, TCP/IP networking, and virtualization. We value exposure to AWS and Azure cloud services and infrastructure. We are looking for expertise in Windows Server, SQL Server, backup and disaster recovery, TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN, routing, and switching. We require strong server hardware knowledge and excellent troubleshooting ability. We need solid programming and scripting skills. We expect project management and documentation capabilities. We look for a high degree of initiative and commitment. We require a bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. We require a valid drivers license and reliable transportation for client-site travel. Responsibilities: We maintain Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Windows Server environments on a day-to-day basis. We design system configurations, oversee installations, and define, document, and enforce infrastructure standards. We design and configure AWS and Azure cloud environments and services to support resilient application infrastructure. We manage our LAN, WAN, servers, storage, compute, identity, and security. We oversee our cloud infrastructure, including virtual networks, storage, compute, identity, and security. We monitor network performance, resolve outages and connectivity issues, and coordinate upgrades and optimization efforts. We set up and support virtualization environments. We set up and support Microsoft SQL Server environments. We plan and carry out database maintenance and recurring tasks using SQL scheduling tools. We consult with clients to plan, design, document, implement, and support LAN/WAN networks. We plan and implement network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, remote access solutions, and security policy maintenance. We troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and resolve complex hardware and software issues. We travel to client sites in the Richmond area and elsewhere in Virginia at least one day per week.
