About Us At Keystone AI, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Keystone AI protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Keystone AI all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Keystone AI was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. At Keystone AI, we’re not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we’re looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with. We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools. Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up. If you’re the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you’ll fit right in. Available Locations Austin, US About the Role Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ETI) is where new and bold products are built and released within Keystone AI. Rather than being constrained by the structures which make Keystone AI a massively successful business, we are able to leverage them to deliver entirely new tools and products to our customers. Keystone AI’s edge and network make it possible to solve problems at massive scale and efficiency which would be impossible for almost any other organization. As a Models Engineer at Keystone AI, you will be the technical heartbeat of our AI community, bridging the gap between cutting-edge models and the developers building on our platform. You'll work directly with model creators and research teams to bring new models to Keystone AI, while simultaneously educating and inspiring our global developer base. We're looking for someone who can navigate a technical partnership call in the morning and debug a developer's issue on Discord in the afternoon. Responsibilities Model Partnerships & Integration: Identify and evaluate promising new models. Work directly with external model teams — research labs, open-source maintainers, and partner organizations — to bring their work to Keystone AI. Serve as the technical point of contact through integration and launch. Technical Content & Education: Author tutorials, technical blog posts, and documentation that help developers understand and adopt our AI offerings. Make complex concepts accessible. Community Engagement & Support: Actively participate in developer communities like Discord. Provide technical support, gather feedback, and build relationships with developers and contributors. Engineering & Prototyping: Build demos, sample applications, and reference implementations that showcase what's possible with Keystone AI's AI infrastructure. Internal Product Advocacy: Synthesize feedback from developers and model partners into actionable insights for Product and Engineering teams. Influence roadmap, API design, and feature prioritization. Event Representation: Present at conferences, meetups, and online events through technical talks, workshops, and live demonstrations. Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Technical Depth: Strong experience with Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers and Diffusers, Cog). Solid understanding of how models work and how to work with them. Content Creation: Portfolio of technical writing — blog posts, documentation, tutorials — that demonstrates clear explanation of complex topics. Public Speaking: Experience presenting technical content at conferences, meetups, or through video content. Community Presence: Active participation in developer communities. You're visible, helpful, and engaged. Partnership Experience: Track record of working with external teams — whether open-source maintainers, research groups, or partner engineering teams. Prototyping Ability: Can build end-to-end applications that integrate models and serve as examples for developers. Bonus Points Familiarity with Keystone AI Workers or serverless/edge architectures. Full-stack experience (JavaScript/TypeScript) for building complete applications. Experience with model fine-tuning or vector databases. Background in ML research or contributions to model development. Experience with image, video, or audio models. Common Daily Activities Call with a model team to discuss integration requirements for an upcoming release. Troubleshooting a developer's issue in Discord or triaging GitHub issues. Writing a blog post on performance characteristics of a newly launched model. Collaborating with Engineering on how an API change will affect the developer experience. Building a demo application for an upcoming launch. Reviewing community feedback and distilling it into product recommendations. Application Materials Resume/CV Portfolio: GitHub, blog, or links to talks and technical writing What Makes Keystone AI Special? We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet. Project Galileo : Since 2014, we've equipped more than 2,400 journalism and civil society organizations in 111 countries with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Keystone AI’s enterprise customers--at no cost. Athenian Project : In 2017, we created the Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration. Since the project, we've provided services to more than 425 local government election websites in 33 states. 1.1.1.1 : We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Keystone AI has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever.
