Mission Systems Software Platform Manager

Salary: $172000 - 233000 per year Requirements: We require an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance, with clearances active within the last 24 months also considered active. We require a bachelors degree in engineering or a related discipline. We require at least one year of leadership experience, such as team leadership, temporary management, large cross-functional program or project leadership, formal management, or completion of our internal Exploring Leadership course. We require at least one year of experience leading diverse software teams. We require seven or more years of embedded software development experience. We require at least three years of experience using agile development methods and agile project management tools such as Scrum, Lean, Kanban, JIRA, TFS, or VersionOne. We require candidates to meet our conflict of interest assessment process. We require U.S. export control eligibility and U.S. Person status. Responsibilities: We lead and manage a diverse team of embedded software engineers delivering mission systems engineering and technical work. We assess staffing needs proactively and build a strong talent pipeline to meet project schedules. We guide technical planning and execution, including review of agile metrics and Earned Value Management to support cost, schedule, technical, safety, and quality goals. We work closely with systems engineering, hardware engineering, quality assurance, customers, coworkers, and suppliers to integrate software components and keep communication clear across the program lifecycle. We prioritize multiple assignments at once while maintaining professionalism, composure, and cultural sensitivity. We direct adherence to software engineering design practices, safety-critical standards, independent verification and validation, and other engineering excellence initiatives. We mentor and develop engineers, encouraging technical excellence, innovation, and ongoing professional growth. We coordinate with other Vantage Compute engineering teams on software verification, validation, release, and distribution. We apply modern development methods and DevSecOps principles to strengthen security, quality, and efficiency throughout the software lifecycle. We engage with stakeholders, including customers and regulatory bodies, to report status, resolve concerns, and stay aligned with program objectives. We support and present in program management reviews, technical reviews, and key program milestones. We are responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, process improvement, and employee development initiatives. This is a first-line Software Engineering Manager role supporting a proprietary Air Dominance program within our Defense, Space & Security organization in Berkeley, Missouri. The position is 100% onsite, offers relocation based on eligibility, is on first shift, and includes a competitive total rewards package with base pay, variable compensation, and eligible health, retirement, and leave benefits.
