Mainframe Developer - Dearborn

Salary: $68,000 - 108,000 per year Requirements: At least 10 years of IT experience and 8 years of development experience, including mainframe systems. A bachelors degree is required; a masters degree is preferred. Preferred: 8 or more years of system programming experience, including dump analysis, SMP/E, SMF, USS, Omegamon, MVS and JES exits, and problem analysis and resolution. Working knowledge of z/OS internals in JES2 or JES3 environments. Experience planning, customizing, testing, and supporting independent software vendor products, such as CA Technologies, BMC, SAS, and IBM. Knowledge of corporate and group security and control policies, procedures, and standards. Experience supporting disaster recovery for z/OS environments. Strong verbal and written communication, motivation, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Access, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project for project administration is preferred. Working knowledge of ISPF, TSO, JCL, and IBM utilities. Desired coding proficiency in Assembler, REXX, CLIST, and SAS. Knowledge of RACF and the ability to create and analyze RACF profiles. Responsibilities: Build and operate IT hardware and software resources in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments to meet internal customer needs. Plan capacity and optimize resources for both short-term and long-term workloads; plan, configure, and maintain servers, including mainframes. Design, operate, and maintain enterprise servers, including IBM/LPAR mainframes, high-performance computing systems, and hybrid and cloud systems. Research, design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions for needs such as specialty software, data warehouses, identity and access management, event frameworks, containerization, and on-demand scaling. Design and configure secure virtualized environments in line with enterprise architecture blueprints, including virtual machines, virtual networks, and high-speed or distributed storage. Use or help develop monitoring tools to verify system configuration, efficiency, and security. Monitor CPU, memory, storage, and network use; address bottlenecks, control costs, forecast capacity needs, and advise enterprise architecture teams on usage trends. Install, customize, test, implement, document, and support independent software vendor products, including site-specific modifications, and work with vendors to resolve issues. Develop, test, implement, document, and support system modifications and MVS and JES exits using Assembler. Analyze, debug, and resolve z/OS software issues, and support z/OS Unix System Services and WebSphere environments. Use IBM ServiceLink and coordinate with IBM technical support to resolve z/OS operating system and hardware problems. Provide system programming support for mainframe hardware installation and upgrades. Support disaster recovery planning and testing outside regular working hours. Respond to software and hardware trouble tickets and provide Level 1, 2, and 3 customer support.
