Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Data

Salary: $90,000 - 135,000 per year Requirements: At least 10 years of experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Data Operations Engineer. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Familiarity with data architectures and technologies such as Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, HDFS, and AWS S3. Extensive database management experience, including NoSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Proficiency with Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker. Programming skills in Python, Go, Java, or Scala. Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar monitoring tools. Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities, with effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. A bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; we may also consider equivalent coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience. Preferred: experience with Aerospike, Kafka, Snowflake, or other big data technologies; containerization, microservices, and Kubernetes; large-scale distributed systems; or data quality management, data governance, or ETL pipelines. Responsibilities: We design and implement monitoring and alerting to support the stability, reliability, and performance of our data platforms, and respond to issues affecting data pipelines and storage. We develop and maintain automation tools and scripts for deployment, monitoring, backups, recovery, and disaster recovery. We analyze and optimize data storage, query performance, and data flows to process large datasets efficiently, reduce latency, and improve processing speed. We troubleshoot data platform failures, coordinate cross-team incident resolution, and maintain high availability and reliability. We work with data engineering teams to forecast capacity needs and scale infrastructure to accommodate data growth. We document platform architecture, configurations, and operating procedures, and share knowledge and provide relevant team training. We help ensure our data platforms meet security and compliance standards and prevent breaches, unauthorized access, and data misuse. We collaborate with data science, product, and development teams, support data product design and implementation, and address reliability issues to improve platform stability.
