Lead Java Backend Developer
We are seeking a Lead Java Backend Developer to join the team building a new Currency Administration (FX hedging/overlay) platform. This system is a rule-based engine that consumes external data, performs FX overlay calculations and raises alerts for required transactions through an internal exception dashboard. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Java/Spring and the ability to think independently and suggest improvements, acting as a proactive problem-solver rather than just a coder.
Please note that working from the office 3 days per week is required.
Responsibilities
– Implement business logic for the rule-based FX overlay engine
– Integrate the platform with external data sources and internal systems
– Ensure code quality through rigorous testing and code reviews
– Optimize performance and reliability of back-end services
– Collaborate with global teams and propose technical improvements
– Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the platform
– Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction
Requirements
– 5+ years of professional experience in software development with a focus on Java back-end or full-stack development
– Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
– Proficiency in Java (8+), Spring Boot and microservices architectures
– Understanding of REST API design with experience building and consuming RESTful services
– Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, with exposure to NoSQL stores
– Familiarity with transactional systems and data consistency patterns in enterprise applications
– Knowledge of distributed systems, messaging frameworks such as Kafka and event-driven architecture
– Capability to work independently, grasp complex business logic and contribute proactively to technical solutions
– Skills in collaboration within cross-functional teams and experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
– English proficiency at B2 level or higher
