Lead Embedded Software Engineer, Optical Systems

Salary: $144000 - 268000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, along with at least 9 years of relevant experience. We will also consider candidates with a graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience. In place of a degree, we accept at least 13 years of directly related experience. We need hands-on experience in embedded software development, system architecture, debugging, and integration for aerospace applications. We expect familiarity with RTOS environments, such as VxWorks, FreeRTOS, RTLinux, or QNX, as well as simulators like TSIM, VxSIM, SIMIC, or MATLAB Simulink. We require proficiency in C/C++, Python, and scripting for embedded systems work. We need experience with embedded command and control of mechanisms, embedded controllers, serial communications, and distributed messaging protocols. We need the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. Preferred candidates will have an active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance. Preferred experience includes full system lifecycle work, MBSE tools such as Cameo, DevOps and CI tools like Jenkins, and prior work on space payload systems or cFS/CFE. Additional preferred strengths include experience with BSP development, microprocessor and microcontroller architectures, FPGAs, cyber compliance tools, and open architecture standards such as OMS and UCI. Responsibilities: We lead the design and delivery of real-time embedded flight software for space-based imaging payloads. We integrate and validate embedded flight systems at both the software and hardware levels. We apply architectural design approaches to build and implement software solutions. We partner with engineers across disciplines to plan, develop, and refine technical solutions. We contribute across the full software lifecycle, including design, documentation, coding, testing, code review, and mission integration. We help develop test plans, procedures, traceability artifacts, reports, test flows, and test cases. We take part in requirements analysis, decomposition, implementation, unit testing, integration, and verification. We create UML materials such as state charts and sequence diagrams. We follow established software development processes and support mission operations as needed. We design, customize, maintain, and optimize Board Support Packages for multiple hardware platforms. We integrate BSP elements such as bootloaders, device drivers, and operating systems. We may also support estimation efforts for large software programs and new business opportunities.
