About the role
Salary: $131000 - 244000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific field with 9 years of relevant experience in space-based EO/IR systems engineering. Graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of related experience, or 13 years of prior experience in lieu of a degree. Mandatory experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL). At least 6 years of experience in electro-optics, including optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems. 6+ years of experience with engineering and simulation software tools, such as MATLAB. Must be eligible for a DOD Secret security clearance. Preferred: Active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance. Demonstrable experience in space systems engineering and knowledge of satellite systems and space mission design. Background in leading technical teams and managing projects, with a focus on cross-functional engineering coordination. Relevant professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) are advantageous. Proficiency with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, including DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA, and SysML. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities for conveying technical information effectively. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving proficiency, particularly in complex engineering scenarios. Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives. Responsibilities: Collaborate with program leaders to devise a technical strategy and execution plan. Design and integrate advanced electro-optical systems for space-based missions while ensuring compliance with pertinent specifications. Provide technical direction and expertise in systems engineering, encompassing architecture development and verification processes. Define, manage, and maintain requirements at both system and sub-system levels, ensuring traceability throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct modeling and simulation activities to evaluate system performance in various operational contexts. Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through all project phases, from conceptual design to system delivery and operation. Generate and uphold detailed technical documentation, such as specifications, design descriptions, test plans, and reports. Capture customer needs and translate them into system-level requirements while assessing different design alternatives. Conduct trade studies for accuracy and relevance to inform decision-making, utilizing sound engineering reasoning. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including contractors and U.S. Government clients, to ensure project alignment and success. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout engineering operations. Foster collaboration among diverse teams to achieve project goals effectively. Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth within the team.
