About the role
Oversee enterprise WAF operations and lead cybersecurity projects to enhance security posture.
Salary: $141000 - 235000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in a related field with 6 years of experience, or a combination of a masters degree with 4 years of experience, a Ph.D. with 1 year of experience, or 18 years of experience in a related domain. Minimum of 4 years dedicated to cybersecurity, with at least 2 years overseeing enterprise WAF operations. Proven expert experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise WAF solutions across various environments. In-depth understanding of the routing of network traffic between clients and servers on the internet (e.g., DNS, HTTP/S, CDN/edge routing). Ability to clearly communicate the aims of specific cybersecurity policies and procedures to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated proficiency in leading technical projects and guiding engineering teams. Strong customer service capabilities, along with excellent writing and presentation skills. Ability to foster a collaborative and productive work atmosphere with key stakeholders and work closely with other cybersecurity teams at Cox. Consultative approach to navigate complex topics with employees, leaders, and senior management. Proficiency in Python and Terraform. Innovative problem-solving abilities to address intricate cybersecurity challenges while maintaining solid business considerations. Background using Agile methodologies and DevSecOps. Experience implementing changes and solutions within Fortune 1000 organizations. Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., ISO 27000, NIST, FFIEC) and relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, FFIEC, GLBA). Responsibilities: Take ownership of the enterprise WAF, shaping its strategy, patterns, and standards in conjunction with the architecture team. We seek someone passionate about WAF to enhance security for all public-facing applications and APIs. Review and analyze WAF rules to pinpoint areas for enhancement and articulate suggestions for improving WAF protections. Collaborate with security architecture on the long-term WAF vision, including standards, architectural designs, and security roadmaps. Author and update runbooks, playbooks, and specific tuning strategies for threats. Lead the ongoing enhancement of these documents and automated detection mechanisms. Conduct trend analysis and reporting in cyber engineering, identifying and recommending tools and infrastructure improvements. Propose and evaluate plans and policies aimed at enhancing the overall security landscape. Engage in security events and incident responses (e.g., botnet traffic surges, Layer 7 attacks) to uncover deficiencies in the current designs and propose preventive solutions. Research and assess emerging security developments, threats, and technologies, recommending suitable solutions and enhancements. Collaborate closely with the AppSec, Cyber Defense, and Engineering teams to ensure secure-by-default practices are adopted. We offer a competitive salary ranging from $122,600.00 to $204,400.00 per year, along with flexible vacation policies, seven paid holidays, and up to 160 hours of paid wellness time annually.
