Junior AS400 RPG Developer

Key responsibilities Develop and maintain applications using RPG programming language on the IBM AS/400 (iSeries) platform Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code whilst adhering to established coding standards and best practices Collaborate with senior developers and other team members to design, develop and test new features and enhancements Participate in code reviews and implement feedback to continuously improve code quality Debug and troubleshoot existing applications, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner Support the maintenance and optimisation of legacy systems and databases Contribute to the analysis of business requirements and translate them into technical solutions Assist in the documentation of technical specifications and system designs Participate in testing activities including unit testing and integration testing What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Strong foundational knowledge of RPG programming language and its syntax Basic understanding of IBM AS/400 (iSeries) systems and their architecture Familiarity with database concepts and SQL, particularly DB2 Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and methodologies Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking ability Excellent attention to detail and commitment to code quality Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop technical skills Experience with version control systems is a plus Previous exposure to COBOL or other legacy programming languages is advantageous What we offer Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package Structured career development programme with opportunities for professional growth and advancement Mentorship from experienced developers and access to technical training and certifications Collaborative and inclusive work environment that values innovation and continuous learning Health and wellness benefits to support your overall wellbeing Exposure to cutting-edge enterprise systems and real-world business applications Work-life balance with flexible working arrangements
