Alpha Echo · Newcastle, Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter NSW · Posted 2d ago
About the role
Do work that matters. Take pride in being part of something bigger. Live and work in one of Australia's most dynamic coastal regions with a team that values purpose, presence, collaboration, professionalism and sustainability. Use your intelligence expertise and professional commitment to shape resilient, confident outcomes alongside like-minded professionals — delivering real impact from Newcastle. About the Role Alpha Echo (AE) is seeking an experienced, dedicated and proactive Intelligence Specialist to join our Newcastle-based team, contributing to nationally significant Defence cybersecurity and cyber maturity initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced intelligence professional to apply and further develop their tradecraft within the cybersecurity environment, supporting Defence capability while enjoying the lifestyle and opportunities Newcastle has to offer. The successful applicant will provide intelligence inputs to cybersecurity efforts, develop intelligence support concepts and deliver intelligence products and services while working alongside other cybersecurity professionals in a large cyberworthiness delivery team supporting our Department of Defence client. The role requires a driven and innovative individual with the skills and capacity to drive new concepts whilst also delivering against existing services. The successful applicant will be provided with professional development opportunities, including the ability to refine formal delivery skills through the provision of intelligence briefings to diverse audiences. When not immersed in contracted outcomes, the successful applicant will support the development of Alpha Echo’s future Intelligence Capability. The ideal candidate will have a high capacity for work, enjoy working both autonomously and collaboratively in a team, demonstrate refined analytical skills and tradecraft, and possess excellent communication skills (oral and written). While cyber knowledge and experience is desirable, we encourage all intelligence professionals with Defence experience to apply. Due to security requirements, certain dual citizenship arrangements may impact eligibility for this position. About Us Alpha Echo (AE) is an Australian cybersecurity consultancy firm guided by a clear mission: Securing Australia. We work alongside Defence, Government, and value-aligned organisations to embed fit-for-purpose, best-for-capability cybersecurity practices across capability development and sustainment, operations, and routine business functions. Compliance guides our work — but resilience is the goal. At AE, cybersecurity is not a standalone function or a last-minute add-on. It informs decision-making, shapes behaviour, strengthens delivery discipline, and builds confidence across systems and teams. We remain committed beyond formal delivery because responsibility doesn’t end when a contract does, and because sustainable outcomes and human experiences matter. We are an in-person, team-oriented organisation. Presence, collaboration, and shared accountability are central to our culture, our client relationships, and our contribution to Australia’s resilience. Why Newcastle? Newcastle offers something increasingly valuable for intelligence and cybersecurity professionals: nationally significant Defence work combined with the lifestyle and opportunities of Australia's East Coast.
