Design and maintain software for data acquisition and control systems in aerospace applications.
Salary: $94000 - 137000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in software, mechatronics, electrical, or a related engineering field. For the Engineer II level, we seek at least 2 years of experience in software or control systems engineering, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or industrial settings. For the Senior Engineer level, we seek at least 5 years of experience in software or control systems engineering, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or industrial settings. We need proficiency in text-based or object-oriented programming languages such as Structured Text, Python, or C++. We look for experience using Git or another source control system. We value hands-on experience with closed-loop control design, implementation, and tuning. We need experience with signal processing, filtering, and data conditioning for noisy sensor environments. We expect familiarity with core IT networking concepts and industrial communication protocols such as UDP, TCP/IP, Modbus, and EtherCAT. We require basic knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting methods. We also need the ability to meet physical and sensory demands, including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, frequent computer and hand use, verbal and written communication, commuting to buildings, and occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate noise. Responsibilities: We design, develop, verify, and maintain software for data acquisition, command and telemetry flow, hardware abstraction, and field instrumentation control. We implement closed-loop control algorithms and automated sequences that support and improve launch and test operations. We configure and troubleshoot PLC systems and networked I/O devices. We lead commissioning activities and system integration work to enable smooth deployment of new systems. We develop HMI software and operator interfaces for mission-critical systems and operations. We create and maintain technical documentation, including software designs, functional logic diagrams, and operating procedures. We ensure our ground systems meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements. We work with suppliers and internal teams across disciplines. We conduct failure investigations and root cause analysis. We support maintenance program development. Technologies: Electron EtherCAT Flow Git Hardware Support PLC Python Security TCP/IP Liquid TwinCAT More: We are Aperture Cloud, an end-to-end space company providing responsive launch services, spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, and satellite components to expand access to space. Our work supports scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate-focused missions, national security, and technology demonstrations. We are developing Neutron, our reusable medium-lift launch vehicle, alongside our Electron rocket and Space Systems business, which has contributed hardware to missions for NASA and the James Webb Space Telescope. In this hands-on Ground Systems Engineer II/Senior role focused on Instrumentation and Controls, we collaborate closely across electrical, mechanical, and software teams to support launch operations, testing facilities, and critical infrastructure. We value hard work, teamwork, resilience, and a commitment to solving complex challenges, and we offer the opportunity to help build reliable systems for some of the most ambitious missions in the industry. last updated 26 week of 2026
