Brightpath Technologies is a developer tools company building a data visualization SDK and an Agents API. The team is small, fully distributed, and operates as a flat organization with no formal management structures — fast iteration and direct ownership are core to how they work.
About the Role
You’ll be a Senior Backend Engineer laying the foundation for Brightpath Technologies’s backend infrastructure, focusing on the Agents API and the data viz SDK. This is a high-ownership role with direct influence over backend architecture decisions.
What You’ll Do
– Build and scale backend infrastructure for the Agents API — reliable and production-ready
– Develop features around complex data transformations, handling payloads of varying sizes efficiently
– Design and build APIs consumed by external developers and the graphy.app web application
– Own core backend services supporting AI agents, handling traffic spikes gracefully
– Build with security and data privacy as first-class concerns
– Help shape infrastructure for potential self-hosted deployment options
– Define backend engineering best practices for the team
– Support users directly and collaborate closely with Product and Design
What We’re Looking For
– Proven ability to build and scale backend systems in production
– Strong experience with TypeScript/Node.js and API design
– Solid knowledge of databases (Postgres, MySQL, Redis)
– Experience with at least one of: traffic spikes, large data payloads, or compute-heavy processing
– Deep understanding of backend architecture: services, async workflows, queues, caching
– Security and data privacy mindset
– Pragmatic approach — balance speed with quality
