Freelance Senior Business Analyst Location: Antwerp, Belgium (Hybrid) Contract: 12-Month Initial Contract (Extension Likely) Language: English Start Date: December Industry: Life Sciences / Healthcare Engagement: Freelance Overview Our client, a leading European Life Sciences & Healthcare organisation, is embarking on a large-scale IT, Cloud & Business Transformation Programme aimed at modernising core business applications, streamlining operational processes, and accelerating their cloud journey. As the programme enters a critical delivery phase, they are looking for a highly hands-on Senior Business Analyst who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams, driving requirements definition, process optimisation, and transformation initiatives across multiple workstreams. This is not a documentation-only role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being embedded within the business, challenging existing ways of working, facilitating workshops, and actively shaping future-state solutions. Responsibilities Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand current-state processes and system landscapes. Lead requirements gathering workshops across multiple departments. Analyse and document complex business processes, identifying inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. Develop current-state and future-state process maps. Define and document business, functional and non-functional requirements. Translate business requirements into actionable functional specifications. Work closely with solution architects, developers, project managers and integration teams throughout project delivery. Support cloud migration and application transformation initiatives. Conduct gap analyses between legacy systems and future-state solutions. Facilitate stakeholder alignment and decision-making workshops. Support testing activities including UAT planning, execution and defect management. Track requirements through implementation to ensure business objectives are achieved. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across business and technology functions. Ideal Candidate We are specifically seeking a hands-on Business Analyst who thrives in workshops, stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering and process improvement. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, spending time with end users, challenging existing processes and driving tangible transformation outcomes rather than simply producing documentation. Proven experience working on large-scale IT transformation programmes. Strong background in business process analysis and optimisation. Experience gathering and managing requirements across multiple stakeholder groups. Demonstrated experience working on cloud transformation, digital transformation, ERP, CRM or systems integration projects. Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively and influence decisions. Strong workshop facilitation skills. Experience operating in Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments. Excellent communication skills with both business and technical audiences. Preferred Experience Experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Healthcare or Medical Devices industries. Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP. Experience supporting application migration or modernisation programmes. Understanding of regulated environments and compliance requirements. Knowledge of data migration, integration projects or enterprise application landscapes.
