Full-Stack Node/Angular Engineer

At Hive, we empower Kiwis to build better financial futures through accessible advice and ongoing service across two channels: direct to retail clients, and in partnership with financial advisers using our platform. We are looking for a Full-Stack Node/Angular Engineer to join our team in Auckland or Christchurch. What you’ll do Build, refine and own features end-to-end across our Angular + NestJS stack, from planning through to production Work in an AI-assisted delivery model: you shape the problem and the plan, use AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, and stay fully accountable for what ships Review AI-generated code with the same rigour as a teammate's PR, catching subtle bugs, security gaps, and design drift before they reach production Work directly with product managers, designers and stakeholders to understand user needs and turn them into well-scoped work Translate complex financial concepts into simple, usable UI and workflows Advocate for strong patterns, readable code, and practical testing, including using AI to raise automated test coverage Hold the line on our engineering minimums across system design, testability, observability, security, performance, data integrity, compliance and operability Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to evolving our AWS-based infrastructure Use tools like Prisma, Auth0, and Datadog to deliver secure, performant, observable experiences Help shape how we use AI as a team: share prompts, workflows and context files that work, and flag where they don't Balance speed of delivery with code quality and long-term maintainability Our Tech Stack Frontend: Angular+React (microfront-end architecture) / TypeScript TailwindCSS Auth0 Biome, Husky Karma + Jasmine for testing Backend: NestJS / TypeScript Prisma ORM PostgreSQL (RDS) Jest DevOps & Infra: AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch) GitHub Actions for CI/CD Dockerised environments Datadog AI Tooling: GitHub Copilot and understanding of what models to use for what problems Repo-level context and standards documents to guide AI output What You Bring 3+ years building customer-facing apps in Angular and/or Node/NestJS Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in real delivery work, plus a clear sense of where they help and where they get it wrong Strong code-reading and review skills. You're comfortable owning code you didn't type line-by-line A product mindset: you care about why something is being built, not just how The ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear plans, specs and acceptance criteria A good grasp of API design, state management, and responsive UI Comfort working directly with designers, PMs, and other engineers to shape user-first features Familiarity with AWS and modern CI/CD practices Bonus: Experience in financial services, regulated environments, or handling sensitive data, especially thinking about what should and shouldn't go into an AI tool We Offer Competitive remuneration that reflects your experience Hybrid model - 2 days per week in our Auckland/Christchurch office A supportive and collaborative team environment Apply Now!
