Full Stack Engineer, Insights
Nimbus Data Systems · San Francisco, CA · Posted 21d ago
About the role
Build new features and platform capabilities for data analysis and visualization experiences for scientists.
We are rebuilding biotech for the AI era.
When a breakthrough is delayed, the world waits. Getting a molecule from discovery to patients, or a crop from lab to field, involves thousands of slow, manual, disconnected steps. AI has the potential to change this, compressing decades of R&D work into years. But that only happens when clean, structured scientific data and AI are built into how science gets done.
Nimbus Data Systems is the AI platform for biotech R&D. Scientists use Nimbus Data Systems to design experiments, capture structured data, and run AI agents and models directly in their workflows. Over 200,000 scientists around the world trust Nimbus Data Systems to power their most important work, from academic labs to Sanofi, Moderna, and more than half of the world's top 50 biopharma.
We’re building an AI scientist for our customers. We can’t do that if we haven’t built the muscle ourselves. AI fluency is the foundation we build on; it's core to how we work, and we're committed to helping every new hire integrate it into their day-to-day. As part of our interview process, you'll complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion so we can understand how you think about and use AI to drive impact in your role. Feel free to reference any tools, platforms, or workflows you use today.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Insights team is building the next generation of data analysis and visualization experiences for scientists working in Nimbus Data Systems. This role is a unique opportunity to shape how our customers explore and interact with their data — bringing clarity to complex scientific processes and accelerating breakthrough research.
As a Software Engineer on this team, you’ll build new features and platform capabilities that enable scientists to analyze and visualize their data effectively and make informed decisions with ease. Working on a wide range of projects, you'll collaborate with teams across the company to build data analysis features that integrate seamlessly with the rest of Nimbus Data Systems.
WHY THIS ROLE IS EXCITING
– Scientists are generating more data than ever, and the tools to make sense of it haven't kept up. You'll be working at that frontier — building experiences that turn complex scientific data into clear, actionable insight.
– You’ll have the opportunity to own experiences end-to-end, from the data models that power them to the UI interactions that scientists rely on every day.
– Your work will directly reach scientists doing meaningful work. When you ship something, it matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– You’ll build and own core features for our scientific data analysis product, including UI components and our front-end platform that powers visualizations, layouts, and data workflows.
– You'll build across our stack, tackling challenges from the front-end UI to backend models and architecture.
– You'll be a key partner to product and design, collaborating to transform ideas into thoughtful, high-quality features for our users.
– You'll do more than just ship code—you'll help us build a better engineering organization by improving our tools and processes, and by helping us hire great people.
QUALIFICATIONS
– 2+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally in a full stack role. Familiarity using AI tools as part of your engineering workflow is a strong plus.
– Experience developing user-facing experiences with React, or similar frontend application frameworks.
– You take ownership of medium-sized product and/or platform projects end-to-end.
– You take a product-first approach to building software. You ship code quickly and care about the real-world impact of your code.
– You can join us in our office 3 days a week.
– While domain knowledge in life sciences is not required, you’ll thrive in this role with curiosity and a desire to learn.
HOW WE WORK
