About the role
Job Description We’re looking for a creative expert to help guide our In-Game Cinematography and wider Game Capture team in the Warsaw HUB of CD PROJEKT RED. You will be tasked with capturing high quality footage from our games and present them in the most attractive way. You will support the team by capturing long B-rolls or single shots that will be used in trailers and other promotional videos. The captures are used by various marketing teams, devs, as well as external partners or companies. You will also be tasked with occasionally creating and capturing custom in-engine scenes or helping our Marketing Cinematic Artist do so. In addition to video game capture, you will also occasionally prepare marketing materials in the form of screenshots, mentor other team members, and oversee the creative process of team tools with outsourcing companies. Responsibilities: Video Game Capture Preproduction: Playing & capturing CDPR games in various stages of production. Mastering the gameplay in each of its games. Preparing saves for the future etc. Preproduction: choosing and agreeing with the client(s), which part of the game will be shown. Agreeing what type of shots will be needed for trailer/chosen video project. Preproduction: Setting up necessary work environment (proper game builds, debug commands, consoles). Production: Recording and editing (if necessary) of final recordings. Keep iterating on game captures, obscuring bugs from the game, working with developers of particular project. Recording footage on PC and consoles. Good cooperation with dev teams, coordinators, producers, editors, motion designers, sound designers, writers, brand team, development team, other 'clients' within the company and Game Capture Lead. Extensive knowledge how to setup recording equipment and pipelines for different consoles (Playstation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo 2, etc). Ability to be self-sufficient in realization of complex tasks (from brief up to final release of the asset). Introducing new technologies and solutions that could help in day-to-day tasks. For example, gameplay capture tools or ways to archive various gameplay recordings, so we could have easy access to them in the future. Sharing knowledge with the team and mentoring less experienced members. Supporting the Lead at a creative level in assessing video capture created by the team. Custom Cinematics Design, iterate, and capture custom in-engine scenes for use in trailers and other marketing materials. Screenshots Ability to help Screenshot team with the occasional task. Applying strong photographic creative eye to block, light, compose, and capture. Creating the highest possible quality screenshots and renders based on the engines and game builds used by CDPR to create key visuals and illustrations. Preparation of staffing proposals that develop brief assumptions as well as technical, creative and aesthetic requirements using professional knowledge and experience. Collaboration with the Producer, Lead, Art Directors and designers to achieve the best possible work results that meet quality requirements Directs and mentors the work of junior artists and specialists, provides feedback, and collaborates with Leads, Designers, Engineers, and Directors to achieve project goals. Sets the highest possible artistic standards in his discipline. Designing and creatively supervising the tools used by the team to work on screenshots and renders. Supporting the Lead at a creative level in assessing screenshots and renders created by the team. Expert Role Defines and continuously improves gameplay capture standards, workflows, and documentation. Drives innovation in gameplay capture tools, pipelines, and production processes. Acts as the primary expert for complex capture requests and technical challenges. Establishes best practices adopted by the Video & Photography team. Represents the discipline in cross-functional discussions related to capture quality and production workflows. Evaluates emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending solutions that improve quality and efficiency. Qualifications At least 7 years working as a capture artist, with at least 1 of those years in a senior role. Supervising juniors and overseeing creative quality within your department. Advanced knowledge about CDPR games, an excellent, hardcore player. Proficiency in Unreal and other game engines. Experience with editing software (Resolve or Premiere). Ability to tell a story in cinematic and creative way. Good English. Nice to have Professional photography or videography experience. Extensive Unreal engine experience, working with Sequencer and/or Take Recorder.
