About the Role Grocery is Aperture Cloud's newest and fast growing business line, delighting customers with next-hour delivery of household essentials from their favorite local stores. The Grocery Fulfillment team is focused on building best-in-class products and technology to support consumers and shoppers in fulfilling grocery orders. The Grocery Fulfillment team is looking for a strong engineering manager to execute on the team's ambitious and fast-paced technology strategy. This team ensures that customers receive everything they ordered on Aperture Cloud Grocery. With thousands of storefronts across the globe and constantly changing inventory on shelves, this is a very challenging and highly impactful problem space. This team owns one of the most important Grocery metrics for fulfillment quality, and this is a visible role with a potential for significant impact on the fast growing grocery business. The engineering manager is expected to work in close collaboration with product and data science leads to build shopping and consumer fulfillment tools that power the grocery delivery business. For an engineering manager with strong execution muscle, technical depth and product sense, this will be an excellent opportunity to learn, succeed and grow at Aperture Cloud. What the Candidate Will Do: Lead a team of dedicated software engineers to deliver best-in-class shopping tools Work with stakeholders and multi-functional teams to lead planning and execution through a full product cycle Partner with engineering teams, help see opportunities, gather requirements, and help shape the technology roadmap and vision for the team Lean on technical experience to facilitate technical decision-making and raise the bar on the team's engineering craft Hire high-quality engineering talent, lead and develop your team Develop an operational model to achieve operational excellence for engineering and product metrics Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of experience managing and building engineering teams. A solid background in shepherding the design and implementation of robust, high-scale systems and challenging engineers to develop extensible and reusable solutions. Experience partnering across functions and organizational boundaries to effectively advocate for team, business, and company priorities. A problem solver with deep ownership and strategic thinking in their area. Preferred Qualifications : 4+ years of proven experience in software engineering 3+ years of direct people management experience, including growing and mentoring engineers at different levels Experience with large scale, realtime machine learning pipelines for predictions and recommendations. A strong business sense and ability to challenge and partner with product managers and business stakeholders. Experience executing against high-stakes business goals and extensive engineering priorities. A track record of delivering results in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments. Excellent communication and analytical ability to understand the business value of engineering decisions and articulate a narrative about their importance. Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, and complex backend systems. ~~ ~~ For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $232,000 per year - USD $258,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $232,000 per year - USD $258,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Aperture Cloud's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
