Director, Software Engineering

Salary: $169000 - 224000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a leader with a bachelors or masters degree and around 12 years of experience in software and cloud infrastructure engineering across multiple technology platforms. We need experience handling incident and problem management for Tier-0 platforms and driving 24x7 operational excellence. We expect proven experience balancing business priorities and making practical tradeoffs when speed matters. We require hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services to design and deliver production-grade, cloud-native systems. We want experience building containerized applications using Java and Micronaut. We need experience leading technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment. We value experience working in retail financial markets or another highly regulated industry. Preferred: experience using AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, or developer workflows. Responsibilities: We will lead the modernization of our authorization platform into cloud-native solutions. We will own reliability and round-the-clock availability for mission-critical Tier-0 services. We will guide high-performing engineering teams and partner with product, infrastructure, and security colleagues. We will help shape and execute a multi-year technology strategy for our authorization platforms. We will migrate authorization capabilities from legacy mainframe systems to secure, scalable, policy-driven cloud architectures. We will champion engineering excellence across design, development, and operations, with an emphasis on scalability, compliance, and fault tolerance. We will influence backlog priorities and technical decisions for BRT Application Solutions Engineering. We will deliver cloud-native authorization solutions to our BRT development teams and support them as needed. We will identify emerging trends and translate them into faster, more efficient solutions. We will organize team execution to maximize value for our technical and business partners. We will share knowledge, best practices, and industry developments across the organization. We will hire, coach, mentor, and develop technical talent within our team. We will foster continuous learning, innovation, and thoughtful risk-taking in a globally distributed environment. Technologies: AI AWS Cloud Support Java Security Architect More: We are Fidelitys Shared Services Engineering – Authorization team within Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology, building and operating the core authorization platform that supports enterprise security and scale. We are modernizing authorization capabilities from mainframe to cloud-native architectures so our brokerage recordkeeping business can leverage the public cloud at scale. This is a hands-on Director, Software Engineering role with direct responsibility for Tier-0 reliability and 24x7 availability.
