Director, Site Reliability Engineering

Salary: $123000 - 250000 per year Requirements: We seek 8+ years of hands-on AWS production experience designing and operating highly available, secure, and scalable environments, ideally with microservices. We need proven experience building resilient AWS infrastructure across multiple regions and availability zones. We require production experience running Kubernetes workloads and clusters, preferably on EKS, including creating and maintaining Helm charts and reusable templates or libraries. We need hands-on CI/CD expertise with Jenkins, including writing and supporting declarative pipelines and shared libraries. We require strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting. We expect programming ability, with Python preferred. We need solid experience working with Git-based development workflows. We require experience building and maintaining observability solutions for logging, monitoring, and alerting using tools such as Datadog and Splunk. We expect experience operating in Agile delivery environments such as Kanban or Scrum. We value Terraform experience. We consider CDN experience, such as Akamai, a plus. We consider Kafka experience, including Apache or Confluent, a plus. Responsibilities: We provide technical and people leadership for a team of Site Reliability and Cloud Engineers. We hire, coach, and grow high-performing team members. We set clear objectives and expectations while supporting performance management, career development, and team well-being. We own delivery for reliability and cloud initiatives, including planning work, removing impediments, and driving consistent outcomes. We partner with Product and Engineering leaders to deliver complex programs and platform enhancements. We establish, run, and continuously improve on-call and incident response practices, including escalation procedures, runbooks, postmortems, and follow-up tracking. We define and manage service reliability practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets in partnership with engineering teams. We lead blameless incident reviews and drive corrective actions that reduce repeat issues and operational toil. We promote automation and Infrastructure as Code standards to improve speed, lower risk, and strengthen resilience. We support the ongoing evolution of our multi-region Kubernetes and AWS-based platform as part of our cloud strategy.
