Data Governance Specialist

Salary: $120,000 - 160,000 per year Requirements: Strong background working with AWS and cloud-native data platforms, including distributed architectures such as APIs, S3, and data lakes or warehouses. Solid understanding of access control frameworks, data security principles, and cloud governance models to design and enforce controls. Experience using analytics platforms and data consumption tools, with working knowledge of AI/ML use cases and their governance implications. Strong stakeholder management and leadership ability to translate business needs into secure, scalable technical solutions and encourage adoption. Familiarity with investment data, investment data operations, and systems is preferred. Undergraduate degree, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience; a masters degree is preferred. At least seven years of general experience with progressively responsible work, including strong end-to-end project management experience. Demonstrated experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or data architecture. Excellent client relationship, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels. Strong judgment and the ability to assess issues quickly and independently, then take the right action. Proven problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills. Strong proficiency with current versions of the Microsoft Office Suite. Detail-oriented, highly energetic, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Ability to understand and communicate both business and technical issues to teams, senior management, and system support. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and build strong working relationships across internal and external groups. Responsibilities: We lead the development and maintenance of data governance policies and processes to oversee all investment data. We communicate policy updates and ensure investment data consumers follow established governance standards. We build effective partnerships with internal specialists to identify, design, and implement solutions that advance our data governance program and business goals. We present proposed solutions to data management leadership and relevant audiences across our business and enterprise groups. We influence investment data consumer engagement to strengthen adherence to governance policies. We partner with Data Management Partnership Services and IT to develop and manage data domain architecture. We ensure data can be stored, retrieved, and controlled efficiently for varied organizational use. We create data domain strategies and independently lead investment data governance initiatives. We serve as an escalation point for Data Governance Analysts handling complex systematic and manual work. We analyze data quality and governance operational metrics, then design and execute process improvements to optimize operations and prevent future issues. We assess industry trends affecting investment data governance and educate team members and data consumers on relevant changes. We evaluate the impact of emerging technologies on our governance policies and processes and communicate those implications clearly. We take part in special projects and perform other assigned duties. We promote cross-functional collaboration to embed data usage controls within evolving architectures and workflows. We work with IT and Enterprise Data Governance teams to shape control design in line with our data usage standards. We review enterprise data controls and collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to drive awareness, alignment, and compliance. We lead the development and ongoing enhancement of Trusted Sources within the Investment domain. We proactively identify gaps and risks in data controls and help design sustainable solutions with stakeholders.
