Data Engineer / Data Project Lead - Grants Management

Salary: $68,000 - 102,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field At least 10 years of relevant professional experience related to the duties At least 3 years of progressive supervisory experience Advanced proficiency with data management tools and technologies such as Smartsheet, SQL, Python, API development, AWS, Azure, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint Experience developing, implementing, managing, and improving complex, high-profile, multifaceted data projects Proficiency in database design, ETL processes, and data warehousing Knowledge of data governance and security Federal information systems experience preferred Ability to coach team members effectively Clear verbal and written communication skills Ability to address team member and client complaints and resolve problems At least 1 year of experience in early childhood education and/or Head Start programs highly preferred Ability to pass background investigations required for access to federal facilities and systems; this position requires Public Trust clearance Responsibilities: Lead data systems architecture and integration efforts, and oversee data projects and supporting staff Manage data projects using an iterative, collaborative approach that incorporates user feedback and integration with existing federal grants systems Design, develop, and maintain grants databases, reports, and tools that improve efficiency and processes Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations between federal systems and contract tools, including APIs and data transformation and automation processes Test systems, lead test scenarios, and identify, document, and resolve issues Develop data governance models and metadata management systems for information from multiple sources and platforms Set and track measures of progress and successful delivery of data management services Track grant administration workflows and tasks, and maintain and improve OHS Smartsheet processes Create tools that support data-informed decisions, including automated notifications and management reports Document data projects, tools, and solutions to support handoffs and knowledge transfer Coordinate with the team to ensure work products are high quality, functional, and informed by current information Supervise, direct, and support staff in data roles; coach team members and address team and client concerns Attend contract management and stand-up meetings as needed, and contribute to client progress and status reports Technologies: API AWS Azure ETL Excel Support Power BI Python SQL Security Cloud Web More: We are GOH, a small management consulting firm that has supported the federal government since 1997. We are recruiting for potential future openings supporting our Office of Head Start client; positions depend on final approval and funding, so availability is not guaranteed. This is a full-time exempt role in a virtual, remote work environment, typically Monday through Friday for 40–60 hours per week, with occasional work outside standard hours and possible overtime during peak periods. The role involves 5–10% local and regional travel, including occasional overnight stays. Physical demands include extended periods of sitting and occasional walking and standing.
