About the role

Develop data pipelines and automate data tasks for Ford's production systems.

Salary: $67000 - 171000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree. We expect at least 4 years of data engineering experience. We require 2+ years of experience creating data visualizations such as reports and dashboards. We require 2+ years of experience using Python, SQL, C++, Java, or a similar platform for automation and data processing. A masters degree in engineering or computer science is preferred. Experience programming PLCs is preferred. Power BI expertise is preferred. Working knowledge of industrial electronics, PLC logic, and controls is preferred. Familiarity with Manufacturing 4.0 principles such as data collection, AI/ML, IIOT, and digital twins is preferred. Understanding of networking and controls architectures is preferred. Knowledge of data structures and algorithms is preferred. Strong leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills are preferred. Ability to learn, use, and troubleshoot new software and hardware systems is preferred. Responsibilities: We ensure compliance with the Ford Production System key unifying processes. We apply standard manufacturing operating systems and principles consistently. We enforce safety operating practices to support a zero-injury culture. We uphold quality operating practices to achieve zero defects. We develop data pipelines and automate repetitive data tasks. We connect enterprise applications, SaaS platforms, and manufacturing systems through APIs, event-driven messaging, and orchestration workflows. We perform data profiling, mapping, and modeling to maintain accuracy, consistency, and governance compliance. We identify and implement best-practice controls, including enablers, training, and change control. We liaise with IT on controls and IT interface issues. We manage drawing approvals and updates for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. We oversee structured software specifications and coordinate training for OEMs when needed. We resolve issues during machine build, installation, and steady-state production. We troubleshoot and fix production downtime related to PLC programs, HMI screens, and other automation systems. We set up and maintain industrial barcode scanners and printers. We run off equipment to Ford specifications at supplier and plant locations to validate capability, robustness, and safety. We ensure production systems meet objectives through process design and FMEAs. We collaborate with plant and manufacturing engineering teams on documentation, installation timing, and validation. We capture lessons learned and apply them to new programs and existing standards. We troubleshoot PLC, robot, and automation issues. We maintain program backups for automation systems. We program new installations for vision, fastening, dispense, leak test, electrical test, gantry, and conveyor systems. We reprogram automation to support engineering changes and improvements. We work across day, night, weekend, holiday, standard, and rotational shifts as needed. Salary for this role ranges from $65,100 to $166,200 depending on skills, experience, and scope.
